That looks SWEET! Are you going with a summer coat cape or one with some grey in it? Either way I think it'll look awesome.

BC, I didnt have a cape so I had the taxidermist find me one....It is going to be a early rifle cape with slick gray hair.
He should be finished sometime next week and hangin in my new horn room so I will post up the finished product next week (hopefully!)

there are some guys taking a dremel tool with a wire brush attachment to that fake velvet up and down the veins and grooves and when they are done it looks as good as on a live deer. that is a nice rack.

LAST EDITED ON Jun-12-10 AT 10:01AM (MST)[p]I personally like that early season grey and velvet combo on a mount. I remember some pics Saskman posted of a couple of his mounts with velvet and that early season grey. They looked very stunning. I never thought of velvet and sheds before. Gives me some ideas for some of my sheds and deadheads.

I had the fake velvet put on a high country buck that I killed a few years back. The buck rolled when he went down stripping much of the velvet off. I was concerned that it wouldn't look real until I got it back from my taxi. He air brushed the veins and other detail back in. Anyone would be hard pressed to tell the difference between real and fake. I'd have it done again in a heart beat.

Wow! That looks awesome. I would say around 35" wide and around 225" gross, but maybe more. Sweet buck. Where did the sheds come from?(I want gps coordinates)

LAST EDITED ON Jun-12-10 AT 10:57PM (MST)[p]UT is pretty much right on....35 and some change wide and I came up with 228" gross before the velvet....so maybe 230" now? lol....My taxidermist is also going to do the touch up to the velvet before I get him back.
The sheds are from Idaho

It looks great... Personally I would never spray a beautiful hard-horned rack for a mount. I've seen a few of these spray-on velvet bucks, and they all come out lookin green... Yours doesn't appear to be, but I prefer hard-horned anyway...
That's a bruiser buck for sure though..!!!
