Bowhunters, we all know that the 2010 bowhunt is only eight weeks away. If you're like me you are checking off every day one at a time as summer rolls along. And we all have big dreams of arrowing a good buck. So, lets have some fun with this. Let's "Call our own Shot." Meaning, let's put down a guess as to how good of a buck we will take this fall with archery equiptment. The MM member who comes closest to the actual GROSS score of his/her buck will get a little something from me....maybe even Founder will throw a little something in the mix. Who knows! Either way, it should make it fun to see who can make the most accurate prediction. Photos with dates will have to be used to verify the harvest is actually from this fall and not a previous hunt so be sure to have your cameras handy! And lets keep it to muleys just for the sake of keeping it simple. So, any mule deer, any state. That being said, here goes....I'll step up to the plate and point my bat first!

My buck will score 174 6/8"...........

Who's next??!!

My goal is 160 or tag soup on my utah buck, so I am going to say 162 5/8, my nebraska hunt is more about the entire experience, if I shoot a muley, I will say 137, if I shoot a whitetail, 129; I always hope for better, but these numbers are realistic

Rub some dirt on it, ya sissy!

My buck will be 29 wide gross 180 and will have an 8 inch drop tine!

LAST EDITED ON Jun-15-10 AT 06:31PM (MST)[p]How do I score a 2 point??

I'm going 200" or bust again this year and am praying I run into better luck this year. I found "The Admiral" again this spring and will estimate him growing out to 208"...Please please please hunting gods smile upon me for working my ass off on this buck the last couple years!!

GO KOBE GO!!

~Z~

Since I can't hit anything and I'm frustrated with this darn bow of mine, I will say 218 gross 7x8. I probably have a better chance with a rock than a bow, but I figure since it's probably wishful thinking that I will even get one with my bow, I may as well wish big.
................nah, let's go 212-5/8 gross, 6x8. Droptine off the right side, little balled up on the end, about 4 inches long. 191-inch frame. 3-inch eyeguards. Cheater on the right side also. Really heavy bases, but not super heavy up top (bummer). 31 inches wide out to cheater, 28-1/2 inch wide frame. Really deep back forks with inlines off the G3's on both side. Not real huge front forks (bummer), but still good. Will just look weaker because the backs are so big. Full velvet.

I need to go to bed!!! LOL

With the wet spring we have had here n Colorado, I am feeling confident. I am going to say 185 typical.

I'll say a 4X5 scoring 173 3/8th with 4 inch eye guard on one side, 3 and 4/8th on the other. How about a 4 inch kicker on his right side and 27 inches wide. This is what i've been dreaming about for my Book Cliffs archery hunt. A guy can dream can't he? I can't sleep, can't wait, Oh wait...I've been waiting for 6 years for this tag, I guess a couple more weeks won't kill me.

A nice clean 185" 4x4 with 3" eyeguards.

i didnt draw either of the units i wanted. since i'm hunting a leftover unit i have never hunted before, i'm going to guess 152 gross - 22 inch spread.

if that doesnt work out, i'd be happy with a freezer filling slick-head.

good luck to all...

I'd love a 182" gross mulie for my first and since I'm going to a premium Colorado unit I hope to Git R Dun.
Best of luck to all!

Hunt hard.

So what is the deadline for this contest. Before any of the archery seasons start?

I'm gonna say that I stick a 21" 3X4, going 148"... general hunt, I'd say that's decent buck for me...

161 3/8.

I already know which ridge I will kill him on too.

Too bad it's so much easier to visualize it than to do it.

LAST EDITED ON Jun-16-10 AT 03:43PM (MST)[p]Anyone know how to Score a DOE?????

J/K

Since I have had run ins with the brother of my 1st archery buck from 3 years ago, for the last 2 years and watched him grow and narrowly (3 inches)missed my opportunity from being out of whack with my point of sight view last year (could not get over this bush for a clear shot)when he was about a 165" 5x4, I am guessing that THIS YEAR WILL BE HIS LAST and I will take him as a nice 174 2/8" this year!

He just keeps getting more amazing!

I have scouted a buck that will hopefully go 180 this year so my guess will be 181 & 5/8ths. I look forward to seeing all of your pictures regaurdless of size. Good luck!

Not sure if this is my year but if it is my year I have a 171 inch velvet beauty waiting for me August 20th. He's got a damn near perfect main frame with a nice 7 inch drop fork. Can't wait to see how much he's grown.

Okay all you bowhunters, let's just say the buck in this photo scores just exactly what you guessed above or below for those to still guess. Place a dot in the exact spot you would want to hit this buck for the quickest kill!

Have a great bowhunt. BB

New P&Y velvet world record. Gotta dream big right. Typical or Non Typical so not sure what the score will be. Either will work. lol.. Of course I don't even have tag,, yet that is. c'mon AZ.

I am going with a good solid 4x4 with eye guards, he will score in the velvet 172. He will have a 28 inch spread.

That being said, I will not pass up the 200 inch buck roaming the hills where I hunt.

Good luck to you all ->>>--------> :)

Man, looks like a record year is in store for P&Y and the velvet mule deer category. :)

If I'm fortunate enough this August, I'll cast an arrow at a buck that makes my heart rate get up......where the final numbers fall are irrelevant compared to the high country adventure.

Good luck everyone......hope you arrow the buck of your dreams.

This will be my first buck with a bow. My expectations are high for a first but I am feeling pretty optimistic and confident with how much I am practicing.

165

"Half of being smart, is knowing what you're dumb about."

Well I only got a doe tag so my guess is 000.00 0/8ths I bet I get the closest

YOU AINT GOING TO KILL A BIG BUCK UNLESS THERE IS A BIG BUCK WHERE YOUR HUNTING!!!

i"ve been thinking and I think I need to tweek my score. Instead of 174 6/8 I'm gonna go with 174 2/8......There. That feels alot better. Now i think I cna sleep at night.

Hey fast guy you still around roaming the hills of n utah ! Bckcntrybuck you accidentally put a 1 in front of the 85 I think, unless you are planning on holding out for something bigger than a 2 point this year! Ha sorry coudn't resist.

A Buck this great I would call SUPERMAN BUCK II.

Here is the photo I taped to my mirror.

I'm still a buck virgin, so my standards aren't through the roof. Although, with the extra effort this year and additional vacation time, I'm saying 163". And I'm hanging it on the wall to commemorate my first buck.

Good luck to me, and to you.

For the love of the game

Mines going to be 202 6/8 and I already have about 10 minutes of video of him. I believe as of yesterday he was about 188 give or take a few. Hoping my prediciton of another 20 by Sept pans out :)

Cheers,
Pete

Funny. When I first started reading this post I was thinking how would BOHHNTR answer this question (and thinking about your return to CO)? In my opinion, perfectly.

Well I guess my Guess on my buck this year was pretty accurate I said mine will score 165 this year! Well he scored 166, Pretty dang close if you ask me!!! How about you other guys? did anyone get close to what they guessed?

I fell a bit short of my goal, but I did shoot a bucks that green scored around 167. Eighteen inches short and I'm happy.

How did everyone else do?
