I know, thats a lot of country, any help will be appreciated, Iam thinking the higher stuff in 13 131 231, but Ive never set foot there, thanks clock

LAST EDITED ON Jun-22-10 AT 04:17AM (MST)[p]11/211 hold alot of deer.I have rifle hunted there ,but never archery. Units 13 and 131 have alot of private land and I try and stay away from there. In 231 I have seen a couple of monsters, but not alot of deer normaly.Nice unit with lots of public land ,but from the last couple years I would not consider it good deer unit.

You are correct about 11 and 211 holding alot of deer, if you are talking about the later rifle hunts after it starts snowing. Until that snow comes there are only lots of deer on the private ranches in those units. There are places to find deer but i would not come to these two units expecting to find alot of deer or a very good selection of quality bucks unless you are going to get on the private. 22 has a lot of public ground but the deer are concentrated in different parts of the unit. It takes some time scouting to find them and then you have to deal with all the traffic from either the other hunters or the oil and gas field workers. I don't have much experience hunting in the other three units, but i would probably look at those before the first three as far as the archery hunt goes. There are good places to hunt in all of the units so get out here and scout it out and you'll do fine!

Hey clock how was the scouting in the units in Colorado? Any good photos or comments on the habitat and the mule deer population? A wet spring and summer should help hold some of the deer in the high basins. Any decent bucks? How many miles did you drive? Any high vantage points to spot?
