Colorado Mule Deer Unit Advice--2011

Going into next years draw, I will have 5 NR Mule Deer points. Looking at this year's stats, I could draw some pretty decent archery units, or what traditionally had been good units, down in the Gunnison Basin before the big winterkill.

Are the deer rebounding well down there?

Looking around at the units, it looks like many of the high country archery tags go with 0-1 NR points. My plan will be to use my current points on the "best" unit I can shake out, then head high for the future. I've done a lot of different hunting over the last 10 years, trying to sample what I like best. I think I'm going to pick mule deer up in the mountains for what I MUST DO every year.

Anybody have any suggestions for using up 5 NR points so I can do some investigating now to go along with my other "homework"?

One last question. When I was sheep hunting in Colorado a few years ago, I spent some time packing into the Buffalo Peaks Wilderness Area. Are there any areas like that--off limits to vehicles--that have a decent mule deer population?
