12a west

I personally would book with Duwane Adams. He is who I booked my late tag with and he seriously kills big deer on the early and late hunts. With that tag, you need to invest a few extra dollars to ensure killing a big one........... Thanks, Allen Taylor......

LAST EDITED ON Jul-19-10 AT 03:19PM (MST)[p]I was in the same predicament as you.
I also hired Arizona Big Game Hunting (Duwane Adams) as I drew the Kaibab this year.

WOOHOO!

Congrads, but if I am not mistaken your dates are a little off. It starts a week earlier and ends on the 31st.

No problem, I only know the hunt dates because I was lucky enough to draw it too. Usually my group and I don't draw anything, and this year my brother drew an archery elk in NV, we drew a limited entry archery elk tag in Oregon, and three of us drew 12aw Early.

Cool, My dad also drew a Tule Elk tag. It opens on oct.9th, after he fills his tag he will be heading for 12aw to begin scouting. Have you hunted in 12aw before?

I have archery hunted it a number of times, but this is my first time with a rifle. I figure we will try to go where the other hunters are not and hope to find a good buck hiding out.

LOL... road less areas in 12aw ?

Dude, i have never been there before. So i don't know what to expect. I am just saying hunting on foot will most likely be my best bet, not from behind the steering wheel.

If you want a big buck on kaibab on the late hunt and want to hunt alone.Stay out of the zoo. I have hunted this hunt many times and never see more than a couple hunters on every hunt.we have taken many bucks over 200.Last trip up the only person we saw was Alvy johnson a guide from up there and Luke Thompson the 13b Warden who was helping out.He also said we were the only hunters he had seen that day.On this hunt you use your glass a lot and don't spend a lot of walking or hiking ,your glass will serve you much better. It is not a problem glassing up ten bucks in a morning .And sooner or later you will see a boomer.Just stay the course and don't shoot a 25 inch 4x4 the 3rd day and you may find that 29 inch 6x8 200 plus buck.

I HAVE THE EARLY TAG. ARE THERE GOOD VANTAGE POINTS TO GLASS FROM OR IS THE ENTIRE UNIT GOOD, PERIOD. I WAS TOLD NOT TO WASTE MY TIME DOWN LOW, OR IN THE TRANSITION AREA UNLESS IT SNOWS.
