I was out in Vernon last weekend, saw several good bucks two of them were very nice, with one I am sure over 30" Problem is, both of the big boys were 3X4's. This seems to be the case in most of the deer I have seen out there. There are good 3 points and 3X4's but it seems to be hard to find a good big 4 point. It almost looks to me like they need to have some kind of a management hunt out there to get rid of all the BIG 2X3's and 3X4's. I was wondering if anyone else noticed the same thing, or what some of your thoughts were about that?

all tell you this much, if i come across one of them 30 in.3x4 this year all i can say is boom.i have a tag this year and i am pretty stoked.hey mulyhuntr how did you do out there in 08.what tag did you have. what areas did you hunt if you don't mind me asking.

Spent 4 full days during the rifle hunt 09 and 80% of the bucks i seen were 3x4's. Hunt a little harder and you'll turn up a better buck. Who said a 28-30in 3x4's bad anyways? Good luck and have FUN!

how many points did it take you,it took 11 for me. how big was your buck you shot. i will be rifle hunting too.

I totally agree with you guys, there is NOTHING wrong with a 30" 3point. I just think they might need some management. I would be stoked if i had that tag this year, as I have seen some good bucks. In 2008 I ended up with a 28 inch 3 point. He is a good buck, not the biggest i saw, but a good buck, and I had a ton of fun.
Dropper, how did you do out there last year?

Noticed the same thing. Some kind of modified management could do that area a lot of good. My buddy shot a 26" 2x3 out there 5 or 6 years ago.

Yes I agree, they just need to get the big 2 and 3 points out of the herd. Still a great place to hunt.

my son and I were out there 1 week ago and we seen 13 bucks all of them were 3x4. one was about 25 inches theres some 4ponits out there keep looking my aunt harvested 23inch wide 24 inch tall 4 point nice buck

Here's one I killed on the archery hunt in 2008. I totally agree that there should be a management hunt out there. I must have seen 6 or 8 26-28" forkies out there. Crazy!

The one at the top is the one I killed in 08, the one on the right my dad killed in Vernon in 2002.

Cool pictures guys! I like the idea of a management hunt. The bookcliffs needs them in a bad way! It helps clean up the traffic jam we have on preference pts too. Even if they make it a youth only hunt I would support them, maybe more for youth only.
