Anybody have any suggestions for any areas in this unit that may be productive for anything 170 or up.

Lower your standards or pony up some money for a tresspass fee. Sounds rude but that hunt is nothing close to what it once was.

Well! Allllrrrigghty then poopee pants! I guess it will be a meat hunt, now im getting excited! I did shell out some dough for a large chunk of private that actually blocks people from getting into some BLM land. Might reduce the people by a few but probably not, if want to hunt bad enough you find ways in to that kind of land or go home. Thanks for the heads up so i at least know up front.

It's definately not what it once was. However, there are still good bucks in what I think of as my backyard (well actually it IS my backyard, I'll leave for my hunts on the atv from my house). I hunt very steep and nasty areas that I won't see another hunter in. As always, you can get away from other hunters if you leave the roads and trails. Weather makes or breaks the hunts in this unit. If it is hot and dry like it has been the last few years it will be a tough hunt. I'm hoping for stormy weather for my 3rd season 41 buck hunt and my 41 4th season cow tag.

Either way, good or not it beats sitting home watching whitetail hunting on the outdoor channel. Im definitly praying to the snow gods. I have never hunted this unit before, I have always hunted 43,47,471 and it has definitly dropped off a bit, so when this tag came available to me I figured i would go and make the best of it, good unit or bad. With a little luck and alot of miles on the boots you can find a decent buck anywhere.

I wasn't trying to discourage you fullcurl. Like 43 and probably a lot of the western slope, quality has dropped off a bit. Sound's like you have a good plan in place. Good Luck and post some success photo's!

No worries accubond! Thanks for letting me know what to expect. Either way im excited, I couldnt draw a pigeon permit last year so i sat on the sidelines and watched everybody else.(That sucked!)Im excited just to be on the hill with paper in my pocket in case you do see something worthy.
