Do you do it?

My wife bedded a buck 536 yards away, and she guided me in, to 20 yards. He was a wall hanger. I sat and waited with only his horns visible. He turned and looked at me up the hill and all I could see was his eyebrows and up. So I drew thinking we was going to stand. Do you take the shot and shoot him in the head? Not knowing what the future holds! Lets hear some opinions.

Tards are capable of pulling anything off but damn man, would you shoot a Grizzly Bear in the forehead with a feather?

I love not acting my age,
Damn I love my NASCAR race,
And Hell yes I love my Truck!

With a gun in hand? Maybe. With a stick and string? Not a chance. The arrow would glance off his skull and you'd be left with a wounded deer that you'd never be able to recover. I have shot a deer in the head with a rifle. He was in tall brush quartering away and not moving - 20 yards away. Not a hard shot to make. But an arrow is not likely to penetrate the skull unless you hit it totally square so I wouldn't ever try it.

I've seen people shot elk in the skull at camp(one that was already killed)to see what would happen. They shot at a few different angles and im hear to tell you that an arrow in the head is a deadly shot. I also had a cousin that shot a deer in the neck(not on purpose) and dropped him in his tracks.
not saying I would or wouldnt thats just my 10 cents

No way. Its not that you couldn't hit a 20 yrd, 8" target its that it 99% likely to deflect and wound the deer. My $.02

not that i would do it, not that i am a bow hunter. But i did do a couple of seasons bow hunting. Shot one behind the ear one time (not on purpose), but that arrow stuck like it was in a sheet of plywood, dropped him in his tracks. So i think its possible and does happen that you can kill them. I wouldn't tell anybody if you did...the ethics police will be comin for ya!

20 yrds yes! Fire away! I killed a buck years back at 40 yarder in the face, it was a complete pass through. It was a compl
ete accident and though I don't think I will ever try it intentionally, at that distance yes I would!

I just call em as I see em!

How bout the Buck on the Extended Wasatch that was in peoples yards that had the arrow sticking out of his head?

Ya,I know it happens!
Not Cool!}>}>}>

I would shoot him right between the eyes.

My buddy was shooting at a 360 class bull 50 yards away,As i sat and watched him draw back and release then suddenly the bull dropped like a ton of #####.We were all amazed he hit him right in the back of his head as he turned to run.I excited told him put another arrow into him quickly while he was laying stone dead on the ground,My buddy shot 7 more times as we walked up on the bull.Suddenly the bull stood and rockin back and forth as i said shoot and hit him again or he is goin to run off.As he ran back to his truck to refill his quiver, then bull stumbled back and forth. My buddy was so excited to almost have an elk down and me yelling at him put another one in him over and over,he couldnt finish the job,Finally the 13 arrow shot at this wounded bull hit him high in the guts an the bull ran off like he wasnt hurt at all with one arrow sticking out of his head and one out of his guts.TO make this story a little shorter,he run for 4 miles as we tracked him through the sage brush not leaving no blood. Finally we snuck up on him and he didnt miss the 14 th time and the bull went and died finally..His 80 pound bow shot 298 fps and his arrow bearly even cracked the big bulls skull.I guess it just knocked him out,Elk definetly no arrows goin to penetrate far enough to kill the elk IMO.Deer it would be a little easier but would stilll have to get lucky..So just be aware of the things that can happen if you wound him or never find him again.Later elknr

I dont usually get on this thing, but this time ill give my two cents. I have been with a few guys that really try to kill deer but for some reason something just always goes wrong and they dont get the shot. They always have an excuse why they didnt or just couldnt close the deal. I have said this many times, "when your out there ya just got to make something happen." If it was me, and I was twenty yards away from a big one, I would be aiming straight for his eye. And if I missed well at least I get to walk off that mountain knowing that I gave it heck. Success depends on how bad you want it. There are a few attributes that alot of successful hunters possess they are called; passion, drive, and (my personal favorite) killer instinct.

My first buck with a bow the arrow went in just under his eye with one blade cutting his eye ball. Came out just below is ear. He bled pretty bad but I still had to track him 300yds. I will never do it again. It was my first year bow hunting I thought it would be just like rifle if I hit him. I was wrong I got lucky and recovered him. There have been pictures of bucks running around with arrows sticking out of their heads, not cool at all I wouldnt do it again for anything!

BE..BOP....you're a classic...grizzly with a feather...blew coffee all over the keyboard.....I'm like you, rather use a sledgehammer...

Did see a guy drill a coyote right between the eyes at 12 yards running into the call.. half the arrow in one side and half out the other...did the floppy chicken for a couple of minutes like a head shot prairie dog...coyote skulls a lot thinner than a buck or grizzly though..
