Heck ya everyone! I got it done. I'm on my second year of the Utah Dedicated Hunter program and killed a nice four point last year on the rifle hunt so this year I was being really selective. I wanted to kill a buck this year with my new Hoyt Maxxis 31 and I could have killed 2 and 3 point bucks the entire hunt but just had to wait. I spent the entire summer scouting and staying on top of my trail camera bucks but of course the general hunt means alot of weekend warriors. Me, my buddy Steve and his uncle spent the second week of the hunt chasing elk and on Wednesday night September first about 2.5 miles back in the pines this buck stepped out feeding with a spike at his side for extra eye's:) i put a sneak on them and got within 85 yards but they kept on feeding giving me one more chance to sneak a little closer. Ranged him again at 63 yards down hill and set my Sure loc sportsman's special for 60, anchored, picked a hair and touched off my 405gr Easton Axis N-Fused topped with a 100gr G5 T3. All the blades deployed and did a great job on this buck. I am very happy with him, his velvet is perfect. He is 22" wide and is a great 3x4 with my Hoyt Maxxis 31 WAHOOOOOOOO! We quartered him, caped him and loaded my Badlands 2200 down with a hind quarter and the cape and head and Steve and his uncle divided the rest and away we went. I cant say thanks enough to Steve and Gordon for being there with me to help out. I owe ya guys...... Now lets go get the job done on some ELK!!!!! Good luck to y'all. Any of you folks that are good at guessing scores lets have some guesses for fun. Thanks
