Dangers of Mexico

I'm doing research for a presentation on hunting in Mexico. Is there anyone not hunting Mexico because of the potential dangers? Does anyone have anything to share that happened to them while in Mexico?

I once went into a small cantina just South Tijauna for a taco...I woke up 3 days later with an infection, a soon to be ex-wife and four Chihuahua's nipping at my heels.

You have to be very careful down there...danger around every corner. Good luck!

The ranch my buddy used to hunt told us NOT to come down because of the Gangs will be taking your trucks, dogs, guns and sending you packing or maybe not,They could keep you until you pay a ransom, last year they even tried to take one of the ranch hands pickup,(newer model) but he ended up knowing one of the bandits so they let him keep his truck.

So we aren't headed south to hunt quail at all this year.

"I have found if you go the extra mile it's Never crowded".

Good luck!

It's not as safe as travelling in the Middle East.

I was in Tajikistan within 100 yards of Afganistan and drove for 20 hours and felt safer than going to Mexico!

My friends cancelled a deer hunt a couple years ago but I have some friends who go every year regardless of conditions.

The only advice is to have a good talk with the people with whom you will be hunting.

I cancelled my dove hunt this year. I have 40 Mexicans who work for me and none of them are going down there at the moment. Many of thier direct families have had major problems, including armed kidnapping. Just not worth the chance

I have road tripped through Baja twice and have never had any problems. We always bust straight down though and try to get at least 1000 km before we stop for the night. Most of the danger is close to the border from what I hear. Last time I went was probably 5 years ago and I think conditions are worse now.
