Need your help on scoreing

LAST EDITED ON Sep-20-10 AT 02:44PM (MST)[p]My friend ended up harvesting a buck this year and we would like to know what he would score he is 23 inches wide and i would guess he is 20 inches tall on his backs but we didn't measure that so any help would be great thanks guys

He doesn't look too heavy but has really good tine length. I'll say he's high 170's, might even hit 180 gross?? Have him green scored. Lots of guys can do that!

wow thats higher than i thought he would score he took him to a taxidermist today and told him maybe 170 i still thought that was high i figured at the most 160 but what do i know i haven't shot a buck that big lol he is happy as hell with it and i would be too but i kinda figured the guy was trying to talk him into paying for a full mount instead of the euro so i wanted to see what you guys think. He chose the full mount and i think he made the right choice thanks for your help

I'm seeing that deer alot closer to 160. Good Buck just not enough mass for me to see it going 170...

I think some guys are guessing a little low... I have a 171 4/8" 4 point at my home. He has only about 30" of mass (Not super heavy). This buck has longer fronts than mine, even on the backs, and mine has a wider frame... I'd give your buck 175"... He's a stud in my book

I don't know what he would score but he is a great looking buck. I like typicals with deep forks..

Mid 160s to me. Lack of mass hurts score and creates the illusion of longer than actual tine length. Great buck!

Lots of similarities - but then I always tend to judge down quite a bit with pics. He is a great buck no matter what the score is. Glad he is happy with him. Go for the full mount!

He's going to get to real close to 170 with those front forks. I'd guess him at 171 myself.

This one drove me crazy, my first guess was 140 since those G-2's seemed so well hidden in the second picture. So I added up all my estimated measurements and came up with a surprising 168. The skeptic in me says he's probably closer to 164 since (I may have been too generous with the tine lengths). Final answer, 164! Great buck, I'd love to have him on the wall.

Inside Spread=20
Main Beam:20+20=40
G-1: 2.5+2.5=5
G-2: 14+16=30
G-3: 9+10=19
G-4: 11+12=23
Total Length=137

H-1: 4.5, 4.5=9
H-2: 4, 4=8
H-3: 3.5+3.5=7
H-4: 3.5+3.5=7
Total Mass=31

137+31=168 Gross

I give him around 161 gross but not the best pictures to see the buck good. He is lacking mass.

Utahelkaholic, was that a net score after deductions or a gross score counting everything. We generally talk "gross score" here unless we're getting right down to making "book" or not. Thanks!!
