Hey guys. I have been all over the southern unit these past few months as this was my first year in the dedicated hunter program. I have been on the Beaver, Panguitch Lake, Cedar Mtn, Enterprise, Indian Peaks, Pacoon, Utah Hill, Bumblebee, Coral Pinks, and more. I saw lots of deer but mostly just small bucks. Never connected, but you know I had fun just being out in the pursuit of it all.

I am the type that wants so badly to connect with a good animal no matter the work involved and will go to great lengths to see these animals, but have to constantly remind myself to just have fun being out in nature. If hunting were easy then most of us wouldn't like it and have it get inside of our lives the way it does. These big ole bucks and bulls we chase are smart! That's the way it should be. So yeah I spent a couple grand on gas this year and never came home with nothing but it was a definite learning experience and I know where I want to concentrate next year.

Here is hint- why the heck don't more of us think to look around these premium tag areas? Is it just the Kanab guys that are smart?

Good luck all!

No there not so lets try and keep it on the down low and not tell the world. How does that sound I know were your talking about and its all ready crowded, so lets not let everyone and there cat and dog know k thanks.

The whole USA is actually smart on those units. The problem is predation. We are the ultimate predator... yet the management programs think we need to add additional predators to balance out Mother Nature. If you want to keep hunting then you need to learn about politics and start attending meetings with your local Wildlife management groups. Hunting is on it's way out.

If you covered that much ground in 5 days, I don't think you really had a chance to hunt any of it. Spend more time in one place actualy hunting, and you might have a better outcome.

LAST EDITED ON Nov-02-10 AT 09:21PM (MST)[p]No spent that much time over 3 months during archery, muzzle, and rifle! Yeah if I had done that in 5 days I would be nuts.

You spent that much time and never saw a good buck, that is what we are talking about in Utah there are not any good bucks left.

you just keep on thinking there are no good bucks left there soutahunter...

Don't trun this thread into a negative one....

Good luck next year man!
