After hunting hard for deer and elk in warm and dry weather, the snow finally fell. We pushed everyday for five days in tough conditions and came up empty. Hunting from 6500 ft. to 9700 ft. in elevation, searching every pocket of trees and brush pile on the mountain. NOTHING. So I went home for a couple of days and take care of work then watched the weather report and decided that on Wed. I would have a break in the weather so I headed back out. I arrived to about six inches of fresh snow and started hiking at first light and figured I would sit down and glass a bit before I went too far. Before I picked up my binos I seen two deer on the opposit ridge and could tell right away they were bucks. I moved about 100 yrds to get a better look with my glasses and that was all it took. I grabbed a quick range, got steady on my sticks and let it fly. The buck was broadside with his head down feeding and with a smack, went down instantly. What a great feeling to walk up on this guy. Hard persistant hunting is satisfying in many different ways, but to connect at the end is truly rewarding.

Excellent buck! They're getting harder and harder to come across a buck like that. Congratulations!
