I want to hunt Rifle deer I have 9 bonus point! What area would be the best to put in for? I want to shoot a big buck, and I don't mind waiting a few more years to get that really good unit! Which unit would be my best unit to try for?

Agreed... Books Cliffs for sure... Even if you take a tag out of the pool for me to draw with 7 points... :D

You can look through the website and see pics of bucks out there... There haven't been any 200" bucks posted, but a couple 190" bucks, and plenty of the 180" caliber... All around you would see lots and lots of bucks. You will have to hunt to get a true trophy though, but I'm sure you wouldn't mind it...

With 9 points I think you'd be just about a lock for a rifle tag next year... My close friend hunted the muzzy hunt and shot about a 160" 4 point, that had 38" of mass... it was the heaviest 24" four point I've ever held onto, carried it's mass all the way to the tips really... No way I could have passed it...

LAST EDITED ON Nov-01-10 AT 01:13PM (MST)[p]What is some area's in the book cliff's that have good buck's so I could go scout down there? I was thinking about the pasagent unit! What do you all think about that?

The books are huge and there are deer on a lot of it. I have never been there during the rifle hunt. But, during the summer, there are a lot of decent bucks from Steer Ridge all the way over to Rathole. Saw there everywhere I went on the overlook ridge road...

I would put in for the puansagunt if I was you, you might have to wait a couple more years but it is a way better hunt than the books.

Depends on your definition of "big" if you are talking 30" 190+ B&C I would absolutely NOT put in for the Book Cliffs.

LAST EDITED ON Nov-01-10 AT 06:37PM (MST)[p]oak creek if your willing to work hard and the pauns can be hit and miss. the books just put your time in and you'll find a nice buck. Its just how hard you want to hunt i think all produce good bucks... people like to road hunt, not for me.

LAST EDITED ON Nov-01-10 AT 06:56PM (MST)[p]Got it done with the wife on the book's this year, just full days of hunting all day till you fine the buck you want. get away from the people.

165-175 is VERY do-able on the Books...and IMO, a lock if you can hold off the trigger long enough...
