I am curious to know how many of you put forth a real effort to find deer on the extended hunt... I put in 4 miles above bountiful today and saw a total of 2 does one bull moose. Very few tracks... So they are going to kill all the deer that have already made it to their wintering area(bountiful city). That makes plenty of sense. I hunt the front every weekend and would rate my efforts as an 8(1-10). I dont care how many miles I have to go to put down a meat deer. What would you rate your efforts and success?

Today was an awful day for me too. I hunted in Big Cottonwood area and I didn't see a single deer in a 6 mile loop, but there were tracks to be seen. The elk have been into the thick stuff I ventured into today in the past few days. I think it was too warm today.

Pray for some snow.

tinebrother since august i have spent a bit of time hunting back and forth from farmington to bountiful there are a ton of deer up there but hiking is not the way to find them up there. in august and early september they were easily found by glassing late in the evening feeding in the green chapperal or at least that is what i think the plant is called. Any way i have seen several small four points tons of small two's and threes but nothing big. This time of the year they are deep in the canyons at about 5500 -7000 feet in elevation. It is tough hiking up there because of the terrain. But if you get on a good vantage point you will see deer. Although finding a big one is another story. It is supposed to snow monday hopefully that will kick in the rut i have been watching a very nice buck for the last three weeks. However I have not had an oppotunity to stalk him it seems I always find him just before dark I am hoping to try rattling him in for a shot. good luck

I think yesterday was just a slow day all around. I have been on the front almost every week since May, and yesterday was a butt kicker. We need some cooler weather, and snow always helps.

Anywhere on the Front is a tough hunt.. I was up there this weekend again, the deer are still real high and the rut has not kicked into gear yet,, but it will.. Good Luck.

went out again and though in another extreme hike through that awful Buck brush I found a group of five... one being between 28 and 30" wide just before dark. wasn't able to close the deal. good luck to all of you and hope to see that big boy on the ground.
