Im starting to research my deer hunt for next year and I have some general questions on areas 151, 152, and 155. First what kind of bucks can be found in these areas, is a 170 gonna be near impossible or what should I expect. I have mules and will be packing in, so that leads me to my other question. How much hunting pressure is there and will I be able to get away from most people when I pack in? Not looking for any honey holes or anything like that, just want to know what kinds of bucks these areas hold and can I get away from the crowds. Thanks in advance for the help.

Lots of 150-160 type deer; 170 is not an unrealaistic goal. A lot of pressure, no matter how far in you go.

Well Ive hunted every deer area around where I live in NW Wy and all of which I know extremely well. To find a 170 buck with tag in hand has proven impossible for me so far. I put lots of miles on foot every year and even hunted 17 days straight this year and didnt find anything better than mid 160's. With that being said I'm just wondering if i put forth a solid effort in one of the above mentioned areas what are the chances for a true 170 buck? I like the looks of 155 because it is nearly all wilderness so that would eliminate all the NR DIY hunters, though im not sure how many outfitters would be in the area. My other option is packing in somewhere in the cody area where I have deer hunted before and I know at the right times the pressure isnt to great. I think next year I will pick up a leftover late whitetail tag in the big horn basin, then hunt general the end of Sept. in SW Wy, then hunt near where i live in mid Oct. and then hunt in the cody area at the end of Oct./begining of Nov. If no luck then, I will still have a whitetail tag to hunt til the end of Nov. with. Perhaps 2 1/2 months of deer hunting will finally land me a good buck!
Thanks COSA for the info.
