Hey just wondering if there is anybody lucky enough to have the tag for the triangle around this year. I believe the archery hunt starts soon and was hoping to hear some news about the area. It should be a great hunt this year with the early snow.

is the "triangle" world famous???

Now that the archery and rifle hunts are finished and the muzzy hunt is going on I figured I would bump this and see if there was any luck on the Delores Triangle this fall...should have been a good year if there are any good bucks left.

My nieghbor killed a huge bodied 4x4 about 27-28 wide. Not great forks, but a good looking buck.

sure is nice of utah to help thin the herds for colorados deer and elk when they go to winter.. not wanting to pick a fight.. just a sore spot..

LAST EDITED ON Dec-06-10 AT 08:17PM (MST)[p]Hey jim can you hear that? What is it you ask? It's the worlds smallest violin playing. What is it playing well it sounds like cry me a river by justin timberlake.

My ex wife drew that tag in 2007 with zero points, tagged out on a nice 24" four point. Must have been one of those colorado bucks that made it's way to utah.

yea with the bang up job utah is doing with its deer herds.. would not expect anything less.maybe utah should manage coyotes as a big game. look how well they have done on deer. congrats to your wife.

Sounds like Utah can't raise their own so they have to get the left overs from Colorado!!!! You can have a few of our deer cause we kill a lot of your border lions!

And Elk!! Nice to have an open bull unit to kill those that wander off the Lasals. At least Utah limits the number of people killing those illegals that cross the border...

fatheofthree hit it on the head! not to mention what few deer are left on that mountain that wander down into your third and fourt season rifle hunts!

Well heck If it is so easy for us in Colorado to kill your deer then why can't you ? All I hear is oh poor me I can't kill a deer from everyone in Utah! Maybe you all should put in for your border units and get'em befor we do!!!!

Some deer from Utah migrate to Arizona that Arizona hunters shoot. Also deer from Utah migrate to Nevada that Nevada hunters shoot. It happens everywhere.

utah has a bull elk season starting pretty soon in the triangle..It just puts more undue pressure on the deer and elk and forces them to stay higher up.. colorado now has a cow elk season that last the whole month of dec. in that area.. both sides should stop and let them rest and recoup for the winter. hunting aug. to jan. is to long..

just looked at elk dec.11 thru jan.31 OH ya muzzy deer goes to the 17 of dec.. thank alot utah game and fish! no wonder you guys are pissed at them. arizona and nevada boarder units dont have dates like that..

I'm just glad to hear from a few from Co. boys on how they think Utah is doing. They at least know what proper deer management looks like. Not perfect but dam sure better than what we got.

Sorry fer bangin a few of your deer but we gotta get em from somewere I guess.I hope the elk crossin over make up for it. We got a few to trade.

LAST EDITED ON Dec-09-10 AT 10:46AM (MST)[p]This post is cracking me up. There are goofy hunts like this that happen all over along the borders. AZ kills Paunsagunt deer, UT killing WY deer on the Crawfords, WY killing UT North Slope Uinta bulls, UT hunter kill CO deer on the Triangle and there are lots of CO elk hunters in OTC units that border UT LE units (Book Cliffs, La Sals). Life isn't fair, if you don't accept that and move on you are going to spend a lot of your life feeling ripped off.

There is no such thing as a sure thing in trophy mule deer hunting.

Geez guys all I wanted to know is if it would be worth burning a few points on the archery tag for this unit next year, I didnt want to open a bad can of worms.

This is the buck we got in the muzz hunt. I think the bow hunt would be fun but tough.

This is the best buck we seen with lots of people saying they had not seen anything close to this buck. We looked over alot of bucks to find one this big and his width is probably what got him killed. I heard of one kid killing a 175 class buck with a rifle and everything else was smaller that we seen and heard of.

bigbuckhunter64, sorry you had to hear all of the other comments. Had a great hunt on the rifle tag this year. With great weather, lots of snow I think a 160-170 buck is no trouble. Didnt ever see any monsters from the days of old when this place was awesome, but seen some great bucks. Congrats on a nice buck bighamr, hope you had a great hunt. They do have to migrate from Colorado, local herd is almost non exhistant. Seen alot of bucks and took a dandy. Met some great guys up hunting also. The late elk hunt is going on with the 4th rifle in colorado and alot of folks camp and hunt from there. You will see others hunting, just most are hunting colorado elk. If the rut kicks in right and you get some snow like this year, GREAT HUNT! Good luck to you, hope this helped.
