2010 Idaho DIY PUblic Land

I spent 5 days backpacking with my and dad. 2 days scouting and 3 days hunting and found this buck the night before i got him. He actually went up the ridge were on and was pushing does over at dark. My dad and i had to travel back to camp that way and got withing 30 yrds by healamp!!!!!!! Not trying to he just wouldn't leave does. I was worried he might spook out of the bowl and we spent all the next day without locating him but did see a cougar put an unsuccessful stalk on a deer!. Well he finally appeared at dark 1000 yards away and i made a quick stalk to get within 200 yrds and dropped him with 1 shot. 28 wide, 6 in bases and carried the mass all the way up : ) I'll post when i get the pedestal mount back!

AWESOME. Gotta love it when hard work pays off, a hunt means more when your with family and have to work for it. thats why i like to hunt using the shoelace express and not off ATV's.

Yeah It was a great experience with my dad. Its great when 5 months of planning and picking the drainages you want to hike into work out well. Yeah no ATV on this one. I caped and quartered it by headlamp and then it took all day for me and my dad and with help of my brother to pack it out. It was hikes all uphill!
