Reading through the options and a lot of the posts. I haven't seen or read anything that addresses the Ext. Archery hunts? Has the DWR addressed it? Are they considering eliminating it?
If it has been addressed in a previous post could you direct me to it. I am curious to know their thoughts and which options favor it.

The way I took it at the Rac was that they had planned on keeping it. But they also said that anything basically could be subject to change. Just have to wait and see til after Dec.2 nd I believe it is. I just hope they let us know before we apply.

Wasatch should stay because of the opportunity and they can't turn people loose with rifles there. Uinta basin should go away, even though I like to hunt it but have never killed. Deer anyways.

I hope they dont do away with this hunt. I just moved to South Jordan and plan on hunting there next year.

I hope it stays. I would even like to see a few le extended state wide tags if they kept the tag numbers way low.

Agreed. I hope it stays and would love to see a few LE ext. tag opportunities as well. However, I could see the DWR ruining what's left of some prime units.
Who knows. . . maybe not.

The unit is already being MICRO managed. And proof that it works. I doubt there will be any changes until it's cancelled all together, but I think that's likely atleast a decade or two away.

everybody else gets cut. but we should give you guys more. make the bow hut 5 days just like every body else....

Never underestimate the power of stupid people inlarge numbers...

It take's most of them 3-5 month's and now they wan't it state wide! If that's the case i will put in for archery tag then slam me a giant with my rifle in the rut. I promise i will only hunt 3 day's.

I am willing to bet that in short order the Wasatch will offer special draw tags for rifle. A few influential groups have to looking at dollar signs when they see some of the big bucks in the archery only region. I think in the deer overhaul that is currently being pushed the idea will be floated and the money the conservation tags could raise will be used to justify the new hunt. After all, why shouldn't the rifle guys get a short at all those big bucks...? (I am kidding about that just incase it doesn't come across that way). They allow rifle hunting for the goats and moose, why not deer?

You do that bud, and feel great about yourself too. I'm not against rifle guys, but why hate on the Archers because we are able to hunt longer? Rifles are not safe on majority of the Front. Our effective range is far shorter, and so is our success rate why not give us more time?

3-5 Months? Hell, it took me 5 years to get my first archery buck on the front, lol. There are some nice bucks taken but I would be willing to guess there are not a large quantity of deer taken each year. I do not know for sure, but I have several friends who have hunted it for at least as long as I have and I am the first to draw blood so far. I think most guys go a while without taking an archery buck on the front. It isn't as easy as everybody thinks. My thoughts for what they are worth.

Well said, this is my first year hunting the front. and it has proved to be one of the most physicaly demanding hunts i have ever been on. I have nothing against rifle hunting but they are two completley different sports and should be managed as such.

+1
My first year as well and it has humbled me. After four days of hiking to the top of that stupid mountain my feet have had it. Two big toenails trying to come off and a jammed swollen toe have forced me to hang the bow for a little bit. The adrenaline rush from seeing some of those monster bucks has made my feet look like hamburger and feel like it too. Incredible bucks and had some good opportunities but what was stated about the success rate is correct.
I have to say though, it was all worth it!!

Get a life...and spell check!

Traditional only >>>------->

when the extended opened up I went from shooting a two point at the end of the regular hunt to being selective of what I am shooting and how much time I take off work. just saying...
