With this snow I am thinking that hunting the Front will be fun if we can access it.

But is it worth it to hunt in sub zero temperatures?

How do you think sub zero temps affect your bow? A few years ago I was hunting and temps were about- 10. I could not draw my bow. I wonder if the cold temps made my bow stiff or if my arms were too cold. I wonder if the bow shoots differently at extreme temps. Anybody have any experience with this?

That is a good question. I know my whisker biscuit it famous for freezing and having problems in the snow and the cold, but I don't know what the general idea is about a bow not being able to draw back. I should do some research on it.

I doubt extreme cold would affect draw weight of your bow. It will however affect your ability to put cold muscles to work in the process of getting your bow to full draw. I blew a chance at a really big whitetail from a treestand in MT a few years ago....just couldnt get bow over the peak on a buck passing to my right hand side, after a lot of movement the deer spotted me as I was struggling to come to full draw and busted out of the shooting lane. I now back off a few pounds of draw weight and use hand warmers on my shoulder to keep muscles warm and loose when hunting in extreme cold.

I plan on hitting the front this weekend should be fun need to invest in some gators though. If i were you i would ditch the bisquit and get a drop away rest.

LAST EDITED ON Nov-23-10 AT 03:14PM (MST)[p]Back when the late bowhunt around Soda Springs Idaho was a general tag, I hunted it a lot and tested my bow in cold temps (0 to 20 degrees) At 40 yards, my POI was about 2-3 inches lower than during the warmer temps of early fall.

I didn't worry about it too much but did resight my bow before the November season.
