Only thing I shot on the Utah Rifle hunt.

I could have shot a handful of smaller bucks, but decided I would help the deer situation a little instead. I shot this coyote at 350 yds. One shot right through the chest. The next pictures are a tree that a mountain lion likes to climb. The claw marks go up the tree pretty far, and you can see some older marks that are healed over.

nice coyote, as for the claw marks on the tree, there bear markings not lions, you can find them quit often in groves of aspen, especially around water.....

I got a yote too! Its amazing what you see when you pay closer attention to the little things like markings on trees or rocks that have been rolled by bears. Cool pictures!

The only reason I assumed that the marks were Lion, was because I have hunted this area for years and have never heard of anyone seeing any sign of bear, but there are Mountain Lions all over the place. There has been talk for years that there are way too many mountain lions in this area.

Nice coyote. I didn't shoot anything this year though I had opportunities to shoot multiple yearling deer but let them walk. But my dad did manage to run over a yote on a dirt road. He didn't even see it, he was following a few other vehicles off the mountain and it tried to dart across the road in between the vehicles. He looked back and saw it flying like 8 feet in the air.
