I am not looking to start a debate as I know there are some out there who are against management hunts, I am just looking for some information. I have a buddy that should be able to draw the Pauns. management tag next year. I know nothing about the unit and am looking for some real (reliable) information about it. I haven't seen many posts about that hunt this year. Does that mean it was a bad year or is the hunt not what one would think it is? If you have any insight/information you are willing to share you can PM me if you wish.

My brother-in-law killed a great buck this year on the Paunsaugunt management hunt, but he also has relatives that live in Kanab and spend half their lives on the unit. I had a Paunsaugunt/Dutton antelope permit this year and saw a beauty of a 3x4 muley that I would love to have been able to hammer! If I had the points, I'd put in for it in a heartbeat!

My dad had the tag this year. He is disabled and got a 24 inch wide 24 inch high 3x4. It was a sweet buck. He saw over 70 management bucks on the hunt. The guy who says that they had a hard time finding a management bucks was in the wrong place. The general pauns rifle/achery/muzzleloader hunters are getting harder. We have been very successful in taking the nice 4x4's off the unit and not letting any new one grow up. The management hunt is the best hunt on the unit followed by the archery. I say archery because you can scout them all summer and actually find a great buck to get a shot at. With the rifle it is a guess and hope game.

The deer population got hammered with the snow last winter, but there are still more bucks per doe than probably anywhere else in the state except maybe the Henry Mountains.

When you get the tag PM me.
