N/R Deer Looking for Advice

I have been out west many times. But it has been 10 years since I last hunted out there. An extended family member called around Thanksgiving asking about going on an elk hunt. After talking to him I proposed a deer hunt. It would also be 2 of his friends. None have ever been on a western hunt and I have my doubts about the actual desire when it comes down to it. My question would you take them to the mountains or try to find some flat lands deer. My dad used to go with me and can't go anymore 81 y/o. I'd like to find someone to hunt with again but most people think they will go out and kill a monster and never go back. I have never killed a bruiser buck and have been several times. What are your suggestions. Right now I'm waiting on my 4 y/o to get big enough to go but I ain't getting any younger. Your help would be appreciated.

If you are looking for a fun hunt I would look at some units in CO. with enough public land so as private would'nt be an issue. The western slope has plenty of units that offer great deer hunting that take less than 2 points. Just look for units with good buck/doe numbers doesnt have to be great but also has good harvest rates. If physical shape is an issue lean toward the 3rd season as most the deer will be down and bucks are moving and will provide better oppertunity.

Hope this helps.

I have around 12 mule deer points. I have been looking to go in the NW corner late season. I just don't want to burn them with these guys and then they never go back. I'm looking for a partner or partners that I can go every year. I really don't know these guys, the one that called me I haven't seen in probably 25 years. I have been on group hunts before and it can turn bad fast and I'm not sure if these guys are interested in hunting or just getting out and camping, drinking. But thanks for the info.
