I would like to just say thank you for what you do for all of us back here....sorry not much help for Colorado I am from Utah...good luck and God Bless

THANK YOU AND GOOD LUCK OVER THERE.

Some of the eastern part of the State is as you described. Most is private property so the use of an outfitter will probably be required.
They hammer some huge buck over there.
I have no specific knowledge of who to go with but I'll bet the smart guys on here can help.

Thanks for your service!
Do you have any preference points for deer?
What is your deer hunting goal?
A giant record book buck?
A 30" mule deer buck?
A nice 4x4 buck?
Any legal buck?
Do it yourself or guided?

There are some good hunts in all parts of the state. Some have brutal rough steep country and some are not tough at all. However as mentioned previously most of the easy to hunt land is privately owned making access anywhere from doable to impossible without loads of cash.
Good luck in your search.

No advice for Colorado but I would like to thank you very, very much for your service. Stay safe and good luck with your hunt when you get back. Keith.

Thanks to everyone for the appreciation...damn cold in afghanistan this time of year...so my goals are a muley, 26-30 inches wide, i have been looking at maps of unit 70, next to Utah border. I live in Utah but since im military wont be stationed their long enough to draw a good tag...the draw in Utah is tough. So long story short Unit 70 seems to have large area, up/down terrian....any opinions..also i dont have any preference points, unit 70 has a 98% draw rate.

thanks again, to everyone

dwayneb,

Once again, thanks for your service. You may want to check the Colorado DOW web page. The statistics area can give you a better idea of draw odds. As a non-resident it takes 4 points to draw unit 70. Also, as others have stated, Eastern plains units are all private so you will need to either have points or maybe buy a land owner tag and use an outfitter. All units east of I-25 are private. The draw odds link here at MM can help you out as well. Let me know if I can help out in any other way.

Can't help you out in colorado but you ever have a southern utah tag and I would be more than happy to help yo out. THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DO FOR US BACK IN THE STATES GODBLESS AND COME HOME SAFE. YOUR A TRUE HERO IN MY EYES.

Unit 70 Co was 85% draw for the second season (1st opportunity to hunt deer with a rifle).
Access is good, terrain not to rough in many places, fair amount of deer.
There are bucks there that will meet your goal.
If you could line up access to some private land you might hit the jack pot. Otherwise there is a good amount of public land.
If I were you, I would have this hunt in my top five.
Good Luck.
