OK so another post from DRHORNHUNTER only this time its different These are some pics of a pic sorta? They are all sheds and deer taken by me and my brother Jared who passed away a year ago in a car accident RIP bro
The picture in the frame is one taken at Jackson Hole on the great rat race opener for Elk shedding. My brothers and I and my dad brother in law and buddy were all riding ponies We made what we call "running the gauntlet" across the refuge to the National Fores where you can pick them up. We got there first and that was the year they all shed right where we stumbled on to!! We had over 44 sixpoint horns all 350 bulls and up One set went 390 :) Anyway me and family were all there and this was the hunting trip that will always be burned in my mind
I just thought i would share the pics with you cuz i'm sure all of us have lost a fellow MMer or friend hunting buddy brother. Well i lost all those at one time

Miss ya brother and we'll chase em again up there
Save some for me and be my eyes from above bud

Truely sorry for your loss I dont know what I would do if I lost my best friend, hunting buddy, and cousin aka rackman. He may not be my brother but I look up to him as my bro. Awesome way to keep his memory alive.
Best wishes Aaron

Wow that got me all tear'd up. Sorry for your loss man i dont know what i would do if i lost sheddin with my brother's!

Thats cool man. Sorry about your brother. Mine's my partner in crime too and it would suck not having him around!

Sorry for your loss.

Nice tribute.

Keeping his memory alive is important for us too even though most of us didn't get a chance to know him.

We're all brothers!

Thanks, Zeke

+1 aaron84, I dont have a brother, but have a cousin i feel the same way about and we have done everything together over the years cant immagine loosing him.great post and tribute to your brother DR.

Very nice tribute to your brother. I hope as this new year progresses that the pain becomes more distant and that the great memories stay well and alive!!!

Man my heart goes out to you.. I just lost my little brother in july in a car accident. He was a regular here on MM Thanks for sharing a part of his and your life... it helps.... this hunting season was the hardest one for me ever. Sorry to be your brother is sorrow in the same circumstances.

Shane

Has anyone seen my kittie?

Sorry to hear that, Death always sucks! I like what you did with the antlers and photo. Thanks Aaron84, I feel the exact same way cuz!

My old man has a high tech laser that can take that picture and burn it into just about anything if something like that interests you let me know and all have him do it. I think he could even burn that picture into like that moose palm. Its pretty cool. Here is the laser

and here is a pic burned onto a piece of marble

If you want something done let me know and we will be more than happy to do it

That is a great tribute. Every time you go out he will be there with you, and always in your heart. It sounds like a clich? but when you loose someone close like that, you realize it's true.

Hey thanks a lot to all my brothers in arms out there Said some kind words Thats cool I know all of you would have loved this fellow He was a brother but a friend first
The paint horse of mine is named after a cousin of mine who passed years ago tryin to save the life of a friend stranded in a blizzard His name was Devin I call my trusty steed Dev as he would do the same for me And the sorrel horses name is buddy Appropriate that my brother Doogie (thats what everyone called him) :) would ride buddy
Well thanks again for the leg up Always good to know someone else has felt that and wants to help ease the loss and it will get better

Danny

Hey that would be really cool but i would want to give ya something in return Just went through a nasty ass divorce so cash is short but when aint it LOL I would give some big ass elk sheds for doing that Thats what brothers do bro

Sorry to hear about your brother :( Its differnt than losing anyone else? Hard to explain to people
Hunting season was hard for me this year too We rode the ponies past all our favorite honey holes and i was overwhelmed with sorrow missin him But at the same time you could feel he was right there taggin along Its strange when you look at the pic and really start looking around at all of Gods creations Not just glassin for a 30 inch buck or waiting for a sreaming bull to walk into range When your in tune and focus on everything you can really feel them right there with you I kept imagining that he was down in the timber below me puttin the stalk on a bull elk moving his harem up the canyon He liked to do it his way Right or wrong but thats what made him who he was :)
I hope time heals your hurt from losing your brother and i know we will all get to hang out and hike the prettiest hills in heaven HE saved the best ones for up there

Thanks for posting fellow brother

Also i was wondering if any fellow MM ers out there could do a photo shop of the top pic For some reason i had a glare on the pic of the pic of the top one But if some one could superimpose a close up of him in that circle in the clouds?
I'm not to puter literate In fact i despise the dam things so any help would be cool Thanks alot guys

My dad and I are gonna test it out and do a test burn on some of my deer sheds all post pics up to show you how it looks. Everything tends to laser different so im hoping it turns out ok on deer horns.

That would be cool. I got some chewed up moose spoons that still got color if you wanna trial and error on them

Great Post! and tribute,

LAST EDITED ON Dec-31-10 AT 06:34PM (MST)[p]Well after about a half hour of messing around with the laser we did it. Now there is a brown horn which we had to burn three times, and a white horn that we burned once. The pics are small but wehad to make them small to fit on the deer horn. On a moose palm we can make the pic fit better caue there is more room to burn. Let me know what you think we would love to do this for you in the memory of your brother.
The pic I used is of me and my old horn hunting buddy murphy.

A pic would honestly look better on a moose palm more canvas to work with. Here is the pic I used to show comparison.

Those look absolutely awesome bro! Heck ya let's burn one :) I got a killer set of elk sheds that I will give ya tho. Probably a 420 bull. I appreciate the offer but I like to do things in return for fellow hunters who are class act guys. Thanks a bunch. I will get that moose shed to ya for sure. It can be taken out cause its not screwed in.
I seen some elk horns sanded down for a smooth white finish where a painting went. Bet that would look cool lasered

Did your dog pick up sheds? If so I can tell you lost a seriously good friend. Sorry bout that. Know how it feels. I lost red heeler last fall she was the coolest dog ever.

Murphy is still alive and healthy I moved to kentucky for a few months last year so had to give her up. And ya she found lots of horns.

I live in st george ut so lets figure out how to get this started and burn that pick on there for ya. make a copy of the pic so I can make it round instead of square and a moose palm you dont care about as a trial horn. And the moose palm you want the pic on to display. My dad leaves on monday for texas for three weeks so we have time to figure this out before he gets back. If you want send me your info via a PM. Or email me [email protected]

I think that pic is gonna look sweet burned onto a moose palm. I personally think it turned out better on the white horn.

Very cool Tribute. I lost a brother myself and know where you are coming from and how you feel. They are always there with you and you never forget em!

Hey i sent the email with pics of the antler and stuff Thanks again for doing this This is a way that this "horn Hunting" trip will be burned forever

We can burn whatever pic you like best. we can do one on one side and one on the other. I sent you a email bcak did you get it?

i did you just go with it Which ever you think looks the best on whichever side
Trying to find some sort of box to ship a 33 inch moose horn in LOL
It might have enough tape on the box to look like something a uni bomber might send :)

Danny, I am very sorry to hear about your brother. Nuthin' I say will make it better, but, I am sorry to hear of your loss.

Sorry to hear about your bro. Nice tribute.
Not sure if this is what you wanted

IMO the lion picture WITHOUT the distracting background and without the hard straight edge would look a lot better on the moose antler. The straight edged photos won't look as good on non-straight edged piece like the antler.
lionbackground.jpg

I was thinking the same thing about the hard straight edges Feleno.

Kinda takes away from the pic and the antler.

Bill

Hey Feleno how did you do that to the lion pic? I have been trying to figure out how to do that. I dont like having the pic burned on there square. I want it faded like that so it gives it a more natural look. Thanks

A84
It can be done a couple different ways in Photoshop in less than 2 minutes. I'll try to send you a PM a little later with some instructions. Do you have Photoshop?
