Just got my packet in the mail from Pope and Young. I am looking a the official scorecard of my deer. This is a "typical mule deer" scorecard. I know that there is no officail gross score, just a score...but what number do people use when asked what the animal grosses? Is is just the "subtotal" box, or is it the subtotal plus the "total length of abnormal points--box E"???????

LAST EDITED ON Jan-06-11 AT 10:15PM (MST)[p]when you tell people the gross score you are telling them all the inches.

you are telling them the gross score of the frame before deduct + the non typical inches.

When a typical buck is accepted in the B&C book you must subtract every inch of differnce from the horns to make them equal. Say one side scores 80" and the other one scores 75" you must subtract 5" from the bigger side to make them equal.

for example a buck with a gross score of 200" with 3" of frame deduct and 2" of trash deduct will net 195".

When a non-typical buck is accepted in the B&C book the only thing that is deducted is typical frame differences.

A non typical buck with a gross frame of 200" 40" of trash will gross 240. Say the frame has 5" of deduct, then it will net 235"

hope you understand what Im saying
