Where was he when I was up there in September? Biggest buck I saw was his grandson.........

LAST EDITED ON Jan-14-11 AT 07:26PM (MST)[p]Looks like someone is on a scan mission eh? Isn't that buck in Val Geist's Mule Deer Country book?

The photo's of that buck were taken 20 years or so ago. So it's no wonder you failed to see him this year.

Eldorado,
I enjoy the pics in the books I have on my shelf. I'm sure there are plenty of others on MM that do the same.

As for scanning those pics or doing simple google searches and then posting the pics here, ask any photographer how they would feel if it were their pictures stolen and posted up here. Copyrighted material is copyrighted material. If you like the pics in the book, start a post to recommend that more people BUY that book.

That buck was photographed up in Waterton Lakes park in ALberta back in the mid-80s by Erwin and Peggy Bauer. The mule deer foundation used it for their original logo and it is one of those bucks that is just an incredible, visually impressive animal. Flat out awesome looking!!!!

Erwin and Peggy both died just a few short years back but their contribution to many of us made quite a mark. I have a few of their photo books and spent hours as a younger man daydreaming over pictures of great bucks they photographed. Erwin was also an avid big game hunter and wrote some old classic how-to articles back in the day and killed a handful of whopper mule deer.

There is some credit where credit is due. Thanks to Erwin and Peggy for taking some great shots and fueling the fires of many.

BCBOY, I'm sure that many of the pics posted on MM would
be considered an infringement of copyright laws, but are
posted without any malice intended.
My purpose was to make public a pic that would bring some
enjoyment to those here on this site that can appreciate the
effort. I will continue to post pics already in the public domain
unless expressly forbidden by FOUNDER.

The mass, color, shape, palmation, trash, and neck on that deer are all amazing. Great pic!

Eldorado - I don't think any of us have problems with you scanning and posting pics here you have found on other sites. Not many of us care about copywright infringement per se but it just seems a little presumptuous on your part when you don't credit your sources. I can tell you are not trying to pass these off as your own but unless you specifically state otherwise, no one knows the difference. There have been various people who have tried to do this in the past and as you can tell, this gets the crowd a little riled and feels as if they are being defrauded by someone who wants to make themselves out to be something bigger than they aren't. Sorry if some of us may have lumped you into this category.

Roy, I have never attempted to take credit nor profit from
pics not my own that I have posted. Few here on MM do label
the sources of their posted pics. Yet, I have been wrongly
judged by some here as somehow being disingenuous in posting
these pics. I reject these insinuations as being baseless and
resent them. My only and sole intent was to share with all of
you here on MM these incredible pics. I'm gratified that many
of you have found enjoyment in the pics I have posted and will
continue to do so.
