Never measured him! Curious to know what everyone thinks?

My guess would be around a buck-n-1/2.

My first thought on guessing these is usually better than thinking on then for hours, or days, like in the "contest". Plus it's near impossible with just the one pic. That said, my first thought was that he might reach 160ish.

ya i tried getting some more pictures up but they wouldn't load for some reason! in the pic it looks like there's only 3 on the one side but there is four! I guess i just gotta learn to measure

Doesn't look more than 22-23 wide from the picture so I would say about 150-155 maybe. COuld tell better with a straight on look.

ya he isn't very wide at all just has the height and mass! came from the kaibab early rifle tag in 2006

If the left fork matches the right side then I would guess 158 but hard to tell with the one picture and not being able to judge the depth of the fork on left side.
Good buck though! congrats.

Ok mass ok back forks only 22"-24" wide I would say low 150's
But then again I'm getting my azz kicked in the score contest

I would think he has a reasonable chance to go between 155-160

LAST EDITED ON Mar-11-11 AT 01:22PM (MST)[p]leica---I believe his nice buck may score a little higher than I originally said after looking at the length of the back tines again. I was trying to compare him to the best one I have here on the wall and mine barely breaks 150" if I taped him correctly. The area I hunt in Wyoming just doesn't seem to have the genetics to grow the big ones like a lot of the guys on this website are seeing and shooting and that's why I'm in envy of them!!!

It's a deceiving photo... I think guys are givin you way too low of numbers...

19" Mains
4" G1s
16" G2s
10" G3s
9" G4s
30" Mass
20" Spread

Gives me a conservative score of 166"... My initial thought was he's 174"...

Great deer no matter what- Opening morning, rifle, any unit but the Henries for me...

I've got 161 1/2.
19 and 20 1/2 main beams
17 and 18 G-2's
8 1/2 and 9 1/2 G-3's
5 and 9 1/2 G-4's
3 and 2 1/2 G-1's
32 inches of mass per side
17 inch inside spread.
That being said, it's pretty hard to see the left side
G-2 and G-3. Great buck though!

LAST EDITED ON Mar-11-11 AT 05:07PM (MST)[p]Browning rage, Just about every animal that i see you guess the score on, you say, "It's a deceiving photo" or "It's a deceiving animal".

They all seem to be deceiving for you with some of the scores that you come up with. just saying :) I know, i know, they're deceiving :)

I might give that buck low 160's but that's about it IMO.

Joey

I think a lot of you guys are underestimating this buck, i would put him right around 168-172 gross.

maybe a little better. I don't know tho I am terrible at scoring!

KaiDeer.jpg

HA!! it finally worked

and yes the mount is terrible! its my dads buck! he never had anything mounted before that and jacked up the cape! and let his friend do the mount, (took about 3 years).

After seeing this better picture I would definitly up my score by 10-15". He is a very nice buck with better mass than I first thought!!!

Nowhere near mid 170's brotha.....but with that better look at him I think 160 all day long.

Actually SageAdvice- I generally state "that's a deceiving photo", to give the rest of the guessers (Who in this case are easily 15" short of this deer's score) the benefit of it not being a great photo... I'm confident my guess is within 2"...

But thanks for the critical words. I'll try not to be such an idiot in the future... Sorry I offended you. I'll be sure to not say these photos are deceiving anymore...

I don't know Leica, 160's is pretty close to 170's where I come from.

Rage, your name suites you. Can you see the smiles in my post?? I was kidding you and around here that does happen from time to time. Don't be all so serious, you didn't offend me in your post, i was just going off your last few guesses in the contest which confident or not, were no where near, "I'm confident my guess is within 2"..." lol

Joey

17" wide
Short main beams
decent G-4s
Tall in the back
Good Mass
Nice G-1s

Survey says Gross 158"-163"

Definite shooter on almost all units. At least for me anyways.
Thanks for sharing.

You do make a point about my last couple guesses... for some reason I read your smiles as laughing emoticons- that's my bad. Anyway- I was kinda havin a bad day at the same time... no hard feelings...

Alright John are scores are all over the place on this one
How-bout you get someone over to get him measured or at least print off a sheet from B&C and score him yourself
I would be interested to find out for sure

Good idea n_s!!! It's always neat to see what the score is after everybody makes an educated or uneducated guess, LOL!

"no hard feelings... "

+1, It would be interesting to actually find out the score of this buck. After getting a better look at the below pic, i think he's right there with both our guesses. Just not a big enough frame IMO, to be much more that that. Good luck in the contest BR!

Joey

The deers at my cabin! next trip up i'll put the tape to him! not sure how accurate i'll be but i should at least be able to get close

Just print a score sheet off the B&C website to take with you and then when you get home you can go to their site and punch in all the numbers you jotted down at the cabin and it will do all the computations for you!

Ironhead, where I come from a 160 buck isn't lumped into the same class as a "mid 170's buck". A mid 170's buck might have the chance to die where a 160 wouldn't depending on quality of tag in hand. There is a difference but if this buck does go "mid 170's" I will definately stick my foot in mouth :)
