This is the story of my first buck.

Talked my cousin into going to one of the places I thought we'd see some deer. He ended up leaving me on the mountain and went home after a few hours of not seeing anything, which would have been fine with me IF he would have let me know instead of just sneeking out of there. He left around 5 while i was on the other side of the hill.

It was just my luck that he'd leave me out there, because i'm petrefied of the dark.

To make a long and boring story short, I ended up shooting this hog with my eddystone 1917 30-06 from 301 yards. I had to go back the next morning and with the help of my friend, his father and mine father we were able to get it out by 9 pm. This is a public land northern utah DIY hunt. I had cell phone reception luckily enough and my dad came and picked me up the night I was left up there. I hope you enjoy the pictures.

Just wish the mount was huskier and more realistic. but oh well. you'll notice a slight scar on his face, I pulled out a chunk of horn from his face. he must have been a fighter.

It was a big bodied 2 point.

Way to stick it out, I bet you stay longer for the rest of your life now.

I'll tell you who it was . . . it was that D@MN Sasquatch!

2pt or 3x4 because the picture says he a 3x4, But he is big bodied.

Couple of words from one who has been "at it" a little longer.

First: Congrats on a good deer and hanging in.

Second: Don't hunt with that cousin again.

Third: Don't advertise the "afraid of the dark" thing.

Within the shadows, go quietly.

I agree about the cousin, Lifes to short not to have great hunting buddies.
Nobody likes the dark.
Oh yeah, Nice buck man.

Good job on getting your buck but I gotta warn ya...watch out for those "kid eaters" out there in the dark!! It's amazing how quietly they can sneak up on you because they're bigger than a moose...oh and they throw deer for fun!! }>

Congrats again on your buck!!

Congratulations.
Don't worry about the scared of the dark thing. Heck I was too when I was young. Now I hike in and out in the dark and I work in a frickin coal mine. Go figure.

Very nice travis. Congratulations. Just so you know, after you kill a big buck like that you no longer have to fear the dark. From now on the dark will fear you!

Everybody knows you can't kill a buck with a 30-06. :) I bet you grew some muscles carrying that old Enfield around. I killed a few with my Dad's 1917 Enfield back in the day. Sumbitch is heavy.

Great buck and congrats...We are all afraid of the dark because we all know the boogie man is out there. ( wink )

Nice buck, maybe you can return the favor to your cuz and take him snipe hunting and let him hold the bag.

Wildsage

Great buck and story. By the way, that's a nice rack on the wall as well - got some good mass and a couple of kickers.

TRH

I should have kicked him in the nuts but he was already miles long gone before I could have.

Instead I never invited him to go again. every year I discourage him from going with me, but its alot easier now that I bow hunt and he doesn't.

It was a big bodied 2 point.

leave your cousin next time so he can walk home. But before you do put some ice/hot in his underwear so he can enjoy it.

Ha damn cousin. If he was mine he would of gotten his ass handed to him along with not being a member anymore. Good job on your perserverance(if I spelled that right). It will (and did) pay off in the future. Don't worry about the dark thing its normal. You will grow out of it. Congrats on a nice buck.

I will agree with gb22. Be careful with what you share. There are "some" miserable, negative, smartass people out there ready to rain on you and everyone else's parade. Nice buck! Be proud of that thing!
