Wow that is impressive. For those of us that are not scoring experts, but are learning, that rack is a good example of mistakes we might make in the field. With that mass where it forks, you might misjudge just how many inches of fork is there. The forks look relatively small, but honestly may be as much as 3" longer than you would think. Of course with your excellent photo's you can tell as long as that deer was standing next to really any other non-mega deer you would know immediately what you had. I imagine that buck on the hoof was not average sized, which again might have made for somewhat of an optical illusion. If you have a score sheet handy of that rack it would be great to see it on here as a learning tool.
