LAST EDITED ON Jun-01-11 AT 01:26PM (MST)[p]BB Nice shots I like your camera set up . How big and bulky is it to carry ? I now you pm ed me there models. But how big is your lense ?
Mine was threw my tines up canon camera and a a Vortex Razor.

aint it funny how ugly they are this time of year, all shaggy and thin. than in the early fall they slick off there antlers and coats get nice and shinny.

>BB Nice shots ... But how big is
>your lens ?

Forget it BIGJOHNT :)

There is no lens made that will get you the shots BB is taking. I've got a lens that is three times the focal length of BB's on a better DSLR than his and I still can't come close to the kind of pics he gets.

All the money and equipment in the world won't get you those kinds of shots. I've spent alot of money trying and my next purchase will be a $105k 1200mm Canon lens. I'm sure that will allow me to get close enough :)

Seriously though, the man just has a knack with getting close to critters. I'm pretty sure his longest lens is only a 200mm!!!

Cheers,
Pete

BIGJOHNT any DSLR is big but I was only using a 50/200 Zukio lens so its doable, but certianly is not like a small point and shoot.

As Pete was saying getting close is a big part of getting a decent photo. At least it is in my case, as I don't really own any "big" glass.

Here's a good example of a photo I took last weekend. I was around 25 yards or so.

Here's the regular photo, only down sized for posting.

And here's just the head of that doe cropped and downsized for posting.

But if your close and get a good focus you usually walk away with a pretty decent photo if the other setting are correct. I never shoot on the auto setting either, and once you learn a bit about your camera that helps too.

Have a good one. BB
