114-115 Muzzleloader Tag

Plan on some COLD hunting. Access is pretty tough, not many roads. plenty of places to hike and look into though. The deer will move lower with the weather.

You and Yours can take the easy path as many do and hunt 115,or the less traveled areas of 114,where better bucks live. Can be a great hunt, for "Rutting Bucks".Exspect possible extreme cold weather.Been their, done that --- Good Luck,Bruce & SilverGrand

Do some research. Google earth is a good start...

I had this license a few years ago and hunted the north end near Mt. Moriah. I camped in the snow near the end of the road. I'm from Wyoming so I did not think it was abnormally cold. It was about like home. Saw quite a few deer and they were up pretty high. Never saw a monster and shot a 27" 4 point, a nice buck, after 5 days of hunting. I had seen him a few times and never saw one better, so I finally took him.

I used my ATV on the roads, but it was chilly riding. Be sure to have tire chanis and an extra spare or two. I never built a fire and ate mostly cold food, and stayed in a tent. I was by myself all week and only saw 3-4 other hunters. To me, it was a good hunt.

If I had it to do again, I'd go even higher and look for an isolated few deer with a big buck.

Good luck and I hope you smack a big one.
