Well the last 3 weeks have been great, I managed to travel, vacation, and get some trophy rooms all set. Just a good break. Now it's time to finish this deal. We only have 3 contest left on the overall contest for the grand prize. Our winner can take the bow sportsmans donated, a $300 gift certificate or if you are a local or if you dont mind paying shipping I will donate a free mount up to $1200 or $1200 towards a mount if it is a lifesize. So good luck, I plan on having our winner in 1 month from now. Remember if you are not in the overall contest you can still play for a weekly prize.

Okay this weeks Contest. Same rules apply as the last one (26). You will guess a gross score on 5 animals, then you will total all 5 scores for a total. For every animal you guess over on, you will receive a 10 point penalty. So again the goal is to guess as close as you can without going over!!!! If you need go read contest 26 rules.

Rules

1. PLease only one guess per member
2. Scores will be listed as follows
Deer 1 200 Deer 2 200 Deer 3 200 Elk 1 400 Elk 2 400 Total =1400
3. Winner will receive a hunting video
4. Contest will end Next Sunday the 10th

This weeks group of animals are great because of the stories that go with them.

Buck #1 Lazenby Buck.
After waiting quite a bit Troy finally drew his long awaited colorado tag. His brother also bagged a great buck on the hunt. Troy played the patience game and this buck was the end result.

Buck #2 Kemp Buck
This may not be the biggest deer in the world, but to mike who is limited to a wheel chair and has very little movement in his upper torso this buck will be his buck of a lifetime. Weathered Horned Outfitters of Northern Utah helped mike's dreams come true of killing a great buck.

Buck # 3 Nye Buck
Troy doesn't have much to remember his father by. This buck serves as great memories for Troy as he learned to hunt with his father. This buck was just an old weathered buck that we brought to life so that Troy could remember those great times with his father who has now passed on. Troy dad was a great hunter and this is just one of his trophy's from the past.

Elk 1

Talk about beating the odds, this out of state hunter took a stud on the archery Fishlake unit. Never scouted and not knowing where to hunt our hunter took this outrageous bull on his 2nd day of the hunt. The characteristics of this bull are just mind blowing!!!!

ELk 2
Probably my favorite story of the year. Shawn took this bull of the Wasatch Front. Yes, I said the FRONT!!!!! What a trophy for shawn. THis bull was almost perfect as he lays out wide. Just goes to show it still can be done.

No sure if Curtis plans on checking the scores on this one by himself or if he is going to wait until I stick all these into a spreadsheet to calculate the winner.

Last few contests there have been quite a few math errors so I will be entering each animal separately and having the spreadsheet calculate the penalties and total score.

So much for a few simple antelope mounts to round the contest out!

Here's the unofficial official results for Contest #27.

Please check these over carefully, there were a lot of math errors this time, and I hand keyed in over 450 guesses so plenty of room for an error on my part.

I added a column on the very far right that says ABST which is the absolute value of the different guesses for each animal. It is just for a reference only, the amount that counts for the contest is the "Total Diff" column.

Essentially the ABST column would be the results if this had been 5 separate contests and the guy who guessed the closest on all 5 without any penalties thrown in. It was suprising to me that the winner of the contest with the penalties would have been in the middle of the pack if each guess was computed independently. He guessed low on all the animals but one where he guessed high so he only got 10" of penalty and his overall guess was very close. If you calculated each guess independently he was off 39.125" though. Piper was actually the closest if you calculated each guess independently with only 26.25" off, but adding in the penalties and computing the difference in the total he ends up with a total difference of 65.75" that counts in the contest.

Oh well, here's the results.

Gator and Pines-N_Tines, you were both in late, but I don't think it would matter. Gator ended up with 52.5" Total Diff and Pines-N-Tines had 46.375" Total Diff so both of those score would end up being throw away scores anyway.

I'll go ahead and stick them in the overall results but it isn't going to matter.

Let me know if you see any errors.

Thanks, Nathan
