Dang , that big non typical is a stud . Hope he can hold out , and slam a monster .

How many days of hunting does he have left ? How many points did it take him to draw and resident or non ?

That non typical is only about 4 or 5 years old . he was only a 5x3 last year . It ia amazing w/ time what a buck on the strip can turn out to be . Heck sake , give that buck another year or 2 and he can really turn into something special . Got to LOVE the Arizona Strip !!!! That Typical is a young buck also . He was about a 180" buck last year.

I sent you a PM . I'm heading to that unit this coming wednesday when I get back from Tillamook Oregon . If you need help I'd be obliged to help you guys .

>im willing to bet that nt
>is more than 4 or
>5 yrs old...

It is my experience you don't get those kind of ripped ears on younger bucks. That buck has fought more than a few battles already. Passing on him with the idea he's gonna be bigger in a few years means nothing to a guy who has a tag today and highly likely won't draw another tag for years and years to come. Passin' on him only makes sense to a guide that will have another client next year that can hunt him. If your dad is doing this hunt DIY and that is one of the better bucks you've located, then by all means focus on that buck. Best of luck to him in his pursuit of a monster.

That non typical is only 4 or 5 years old . That right ear was torn up last year . And I was not suggesting for anyone too pass up on that buck . I was only hypothetically saying that non typical is still young and still has a few years in him too grow even bigger . I had even offered my help if they need my help in knocking one of those deer down . I've watched those deer for 2 years now .

When I read, "Heck sake , give that buck another year or 2 and he can really turn into something special." I take it the poster of that comment is suggesting the hunter pass on that buck. Lookin at the 2 pics of the NT, if 200 is his goal, then that buck probably will make him happy. In that country, drought drastically affects antler growth. A guy never knows what next year is going to hold. That buck could easily not be as good as he currently is. Heck, even up here in the great white north, I have seen bucks really head down hill after their 5th or 6th year. I have killed bucks that have lost over 20 inches of growth in one year and then never bounced back.

I agree w/ you 100% .Weather conditions plays a huge role in antler growth, this year the tag holders got lucky that the stars lined out perfectly . If I had the tag I would be all over that non typical myself . Hell , I wouldnt be able to sleep until that buck was dead ....lol .

not to say the deer pictures aren't cool. That "I heart boobies" bracelet is sweet!

Good luck and I hope your dad gets what he is looking for. Keep us posted.

Great Bucks!

Hunting with your dad on the Strip is something most of us will never get to do. That is the story, that is a success story & that's what we all got into this thing for.

If he kills a buck over 200" that is a bonus & sign of hard work. Good luck to you guys & hopefully it works out, if not cherish it man, just take it all in...

Thanks,

Great pics and cool bucks. If you don't get lucky on the big one maybe we'll get a shot at him during the rifle hunt!!

There have been some real studs killed near that trick tank. I also know the buck and its good to still see him around. I had the archery tag last year. Shift the camera a little so no one knows which trick it is!! :) Good luck on getting that buck and enjoy the time spent with your old man! That time is priceless and it sucks when you dont get to hunt together anymore...

I had a camera on the same water the pics you posted came from and someone shot an arrow through it and ruined my camera. I was wondering if you could give me a little info on who else may have been sitting this particular water or what the deal was. I hope your dad killed a giant during his archery hunt! Thanks.

OK I have a ? about the strip I have never been on it and probably never will. But every time I see trail cam pics of deer from the strip be it the muley crazy guys or on this sight or some other magazine. Its always that same watering hole in the pics, Is that watering hole the only one on the strip ? I am fairly cofident that if I ever decided to go to the strip I could find big bucks because all I would have to do is find that trick tank.

I HAD RECENTLY POSTED PICS OF DEER OFF THIS SAME WATERHOLE AS WELL . I BELIEVE THE REASON THERE HAVE BEEN MANY PICS POSTED OF THIS SAME WATER HOLE ON SEVERAL OCCASSIONS IS BECAUSE THIS WATERHOLE IS FAIRLY EASY TO FIND AS IT IS VISIBLE FROM A MAIN ROAD AND 2 , THERE ARE ALWAYS GIANT BUCKS FREQUENTING THIS WATER HOLE YEAR AFTER YEAR . THERE ARE OVER 180 WATER CATCHMENTS ON 13A ALONE . BETWEEN 13A AND 13B THERE ARE 344 WATER CATCHMENTS . THE REASON I HAVE POSTED UP PICS OF DEER FROM THIS SAME WATER HOLE IS BECAUSE SO MANY PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT IT'S LOCATION ALREADY . HECK SAKE, IN MID JULY, WHEN I WENT BACK TO RETRIEVE MY TRAIL CAMERA OFF THIS WATER HOLE , THERE WERE 6 OTHER CAMERAS THERE , WHEN TO BEGIN W/ , I HAD THE ONLY CAMERA ON THIS SITE .

mda, about what time of the month did this incident happen to your camera ? were there any other cameras on the site at the time ? I'm tellin ya, there is a jackass out there vandalizing cameras and stealing them . I've had 2 stolen from me recently , and there are others who are having the same problems .

maybe one of the 6 camera on the waterer got a picture of the guy shooting the arrow, Seem like this buck comes into the water from the same direction each time.

Gator, thats exactly what I was thinking because all the cameras are pointing into the direction that the road goes toward the water hole . A lot of the cameras on that site are stealth cams including mine , and they have a sensitive long range motion detection.
