Im heading down wed to hunt deer and elk perdominatly around hog park resivour. I was wondering about the quality and number of deer seen in this area this year. Have they recoverd from the winter kill a couple of years ago, or did they die off againwith the really long winter this year. i know there was a ton of snow through the fourth of july this year, the guys with karst motorsports went snowmobiling on battle pass the fouth this year.

I know its going to be hot and slow next weekend but ill make the best of it while there, I only see deer in just a few places when i'm ther for elk hunting but thats mostly October after they are chases all over hell.

I guess my question is should i smoke the first 140 deer that walks out, or possably wait for something bigger?

If its elk its down Im not picky I justhope they are making some noise but doubtful with this heat. So my plan on elk is to find a wallow and set up my treestand and wait. Elk come first on this trip, but if its as slow as im expecting i will go high and look for a muley just looking for some general areas to look.

Thank you
