hi i drew with very fiew points a nevada 121 late rifle tag, i had expectations of more homework and scouting. i know very little about this area at this time and any help would be greatly appriciated. i have horses, quads, or a pair of legs that im not affraid to use. so any key areas in 121 that should be checked would be appriciated.

Thats Area 12, correct? Try Goshute Canyon north of Cherry Creek or Snow Creek on the backside. Heiser is west of McGill, I hiked up the draw on the north side of the eastern face all the way to the top as a kid. Jumped more than a couple of nice deer when I got up into the Aspens on top. Theres a nice bench up there. Wildneress area now, no roads and very few people. You're bound to find a buck up there.

thank you so much for the tips, i was starting to wonder if any one would even respond. i truly appriciate you taking the time.
how are the deer #s in that are? i have some family in ely but they are not real avid deer guys so they were hesitent to even guess. is there any migration in that unit in early november?
thanks again for the help.

It wasn't much advice but happy to help, if it does at all.

Deer numbers? Well I haven't been up there since 1998. I think if you see 25-40 deer a day you're doing good in that unit.

I only saw one deer migration while living there and it was on Duck Creek right where Steptoe Valley goes into Success Loop. They were all headed back up and the line of deer was over a mile long. I've seen 100+ herds in Idaho, it had to be close to 1000 deer.

I had that tag last year and have hunted it the past 2 years...I can give you my two cents. send me an email at [email protected] or call my cell 702 715-2020

I took a nice buck in the high 180's on second to last day....saw good bucks everyday and no other hunters!
