Colorado Vouchers-Brokers?

I have been interested in buying a LO voucher for Colorado. I have been trying to locate LO's to work with individually to secure a voucher. However, it seems to me my efforts are fruitless and the same players have a lock on the vouchers. They are not brokers, now they consult?

It seems to me that buying the voucher through the old broker is illegal? If not, why? This is causing me grief because of the laws against poaching and Lacy Act. How can one be sure they are not illegal in getting tags through the brokers/consultants? Seems to me when you pay the broker a "fee" you are setting yourself up for trouble? Does anyone know what the CDOW's stance is at this point? One broker told me to send a deposit immediately to get in line. I honestly do not dare to do this.

Can someone shed some light on this issue? The new law did nothing from what I am finding out. I can only find one old broker who seems to be following the law as it was intended? He immediately, upon the passing of the law, refunded my deposit.

I wish I could help you KTC. I'm wondering how the 'fee' plays into the laws too. Anyone........

Hello rackem!

I know what you mean. This is scary business. As of right now I could not use a consultant and feel good about it. The laws were written to eliminate 3rd party "brokering" only to be faced with 3rd party "consulting/distributing."

The bad part is if people use the old brokers and hunt, and are legal, I stay home while others buy the vouchers. If I buy one and it is illegal, then I will wish I would have stayed home!

LAST EDITED ON Mar-13-07 AT 10:33PM (MST)[p]At this point, it is taking a big chance to buy one that way. Because it states in the law that anyone who buys the tag is breaking the law and the tag is invalid. So, if they rule that the tag is invalid, you are out of luck and can't use the tag? And since they already paid the landowner, good luck getting your money back.

Also, I have posted another thread in General Hunting asking why these tags are still being adverized on this website.

Here's what I think will happen. And it is not all good. The tag pimps will continue to pimp, er 'facilitate' tags. In a year or two it will come up as a ballot issue in Colorado and Landowner tags will be eliminated by public vote. Unfortunately some hunters priviledges may also disappear once the voting public becomes involved in managing big game.

I'm in line for a quality tag if the landowner draws BUT he hasn't drawn the last 2 years. I guess since I'm playing by the rules i should at least be happy I won't end up in jail but now the problem. I can now draw the tag. Use 7 points and do the for sure and allow someone else to get the Landowner tag, PP it and hope he draws, or what. 2 years ago I could return the tag to the state/forfeit the tag fee and keep my PP's. Now all I can get for my PP's is a refund on the tag. $300.00 for 7 points and the $300.00 is MY money. I want to hunt so i think I know what I'll do.

I am sure they will run a few 'stings' on these old brokers new facilitators and they will get burnt and next year it will be very tight and the land owners will have a headache trying to sell the tags.

HuntinFool states it is great news for them as they will be able to put buyers and LO togehter for no fee at all....

I've read that about Huntin Fool offering contact information for free and that seems great, but if all the regular players are still in the loop and convincing LO's to let them set them up with people while charging a fee I don't know how many tags would be available. Ayone call Garth about this yet???
