colorado 71/711 deer

I have a 3rd season tag for 71/711 and have never been to the unit before, I did hunt unit 70 a couple of years ago and had a good time, but I have talked to a few people that have hunted 71/711 the last cpouple of years and they all had pretty poor luck on their hunts so I am not to sure what to expect. Maybe they were just in the wrong areas? Has any body hunted these units that is willing to share some areas to start looking for a decent buck?? Thanks for the help..

We have some friends that live in 711 and we probably hunt it next year if we dont get drawn in another unit. They too have said the quality is not what it used to be. The private land holds deer so you might want to knock on some doors or find some adjacent public ground and hunt the fringes to catch deer that travel back and forth. We ahve had good luck with that in Unit 22.

Thanks for the help. I have been looking over the maps above Dove Creek just for that reason. It looks like you can get above the private and have a good chance if they are moving through to bed. Never been there and wont have a chance to scout before the hunt. I think I will stay on the north border along disapointment creek and move around from there. I am hoping for a buck in the 160" range and will be there for the full hunt. I will see if I have what it takes to find one??????????
