Based on Utah's criteria for managment deer (three or less on one side), what B&C score is the biggest mule deer you have every heard of and where was it shot.
LAST EDITED ON Sep-28-11 AT 08:19AM (MST)[p]Isn't a management buck just three points on one side not including the eye guard? If so, my dad's might qualify for that category...
Never been officially scored. I tried once, it was in the the 230 gross range if I did it right.
This buck was killed long ago, before "management hunts" were even allowed.
There was a 3x4 killed this year, that went 204", green scored. I believe it was shot on the Southern Region in the archery hunt. The hunter was guided by Color Country Outfitters.
Shepherd - I saw the cover of that same buck that was a while ago but it stuck with me. I remember they made a big deal about it might be the only 3 point to ever make the B&C all time book.
I know a guy here in Cali that shot a muley in one of our X Zones that was a 31" forked horn with great mass and huge forks.
The frame looked like it belonged on a 190 +.
I always thought that was a real neat deer.
I saw a mid 190 buck that was a 3x3 with a cheater. I know this may be hard to believe but the back tines were 20 plus inches and the mass was 6 " all the way up the tines it ead also 31 inches wide. Killed in mexico
I know I have said this on here before, I scored a 3x3 in Ft.Bragg Calif. that Netted I believe around 197 so this buck would have grossed over 200. This buck was killed years ago in area 45 Idaho.

The three point from Ft Bragg is a blacktail and it grossed over 200? Do you have some pictures you could put up?
Those real wide forkies are cool. My grandpa has a pic of his dad with a 33" forky. My grandpa just passed away and I looked for that pic but could not find it. Not sure if I would post it if I had it.
So based on Redneck's post, I went and checked out Color Country Outfitters website. While these bucks won't 'book', they're still 190"+ bucks with what appear to be a 3 point side. Not sure how the regs work with regard to browtines, but if browtines don't count, then I'm not sure how you get a better "management" buck than these two. CCO says the non-typical scores 196" and the typical scores 197". In my opinion, these bucks shouldn't be considered "management" bucks; however, I understand the point of the regs and I guess if you put the effort in or get lucky enough to find one of these bucks, then more power to ya...

In the British Columbia Record Book there are a few giant 3 points entered. There is a 188 net 3x3, a 185 6/8 net 3x4, and a 36 inch wide 3x3 that scores 176. The 188 buck has mainbeams of 29 3/8 inches and the 185 buck has mainbeams over 30 inches.
Personally I would love to kill a giant 3 point like that. I have seen a few 3 point Gaggers but always during our 4 point or better seasons. Saw one last year that was an absolute jaw dropper. Tried to get his picture but he was on the prowl looking for does and I couldn't get his antlers clear through all the brush for a decent snapshot.
The right side mainbeam is 28 1/2 if I remember right and the left side was something like 26-27. The left side looks a lot shorter, but it is really quite long and closer in length than I always thought.
As far as qualifying as a management buck, I am not sure nor was it taken as a management buck. One day, I will convince my dad to get it officially scored.
