Book Cliffs Rifle

I drew the LE rifle tag for the books and have been there twice scouting and plan on going another 2 times before my hunt the end of October. I have been on the north end and by the Colorado boarder so far and have heard come October that the deer migrate to the north, is this true or should I also scout more south? The unit is just so big, I'm trying to get to know the area best I can so I'm ready come opening morning. I really haven't seen anything that would be worth shooting in a LE hunt. Any help would be appreciated, if you want to PM me that would be great too. Thanks!

I also drew this tag 3yrs ago. I hunted on the North end the 1st weekend. Second weekend I killed mine on the South end. (Nash Wash) My dad and brother drew it this year. I think that is where they are going to start. I saw fairly bigger bucks on the South end. Any how good luck.

my dad, 2 brothers and i had tags in 2000. we saw a lot of deer, all were low on the south end. the best buck we shot was a 28" 4x4 with a couple of extras. very cool buck. we hunted mostly hay canyon and a little west towards cottonwood canyon.
we looked over hundreds of deer every day. they liked hanging out in the cedars, it was tough to get good looks at everything with all the deer and trees. patience is key. we saw very few deer up high, but if think if you find one it will be a good one. make sure you have a good map or gps. there are roads everywhere out there. good luck and have fun.

Cool, I think I'll for sure scout the south end also just to see. Thanks for the help, and good luck to you and your dad also.

I HAVE THE BOOKS TAG AS WELL. I THINK I WILL TRY A COUPLE OF DIFFERENT PLACES.....BUT I AM STILL WONDERING IF HUGGING THE COLORADO LINE IS A GOOD OPTION. I WILL BE THERE ALL SEASON I BELIEVE.........ANYBODY SCOUT THE COLORADO LINE MUCH ??? I AM ABOUT 840 MILES AWAY AND SCOUTING WOULD BE A TAD EXPENSIVE. GOOD LUCK TO YOU FELLAS & THANKS FOR YOUR TIME...............YD.

It's a big area and I don't think there is anything special about the CO border. There will be good bucks coming down from the high country of the roadless area and the reservation too.

I also drew the tag this year. I have only been able to scout 1 weekend this summer and everything was up high still. I am headed there this weekend to check it out. I'll be glad to let you know what I find. Plenty of good deer out there.

Ya that would be great! Just send me a PM or I'm open to giving you my number and we could talk also.
