Need someone that knows how to take pics off if my Droid to put up on here please.

My 13 year old son and I hunted hard here in NE Oregon for his first buck. We endured 85-90 degree days....50mph winds.....rain/snow.....he would not go home with anything less than a 4x4 lol. Sooooo had my work cut out for me! We rode horses n mules 85-90 miles during the hunt. We hiked many miles and glassed for hours!!!

He did awesome! Never complained once! Finally on day 10 of the hunt, we glassed a basin we been seeing bucks in as we rode it. We were glassing for 2 miles away first 10 min of daylight when I spotted a group of 6 bucks....with two shooters. It started pouring and I asked what he wanted to do, go directly at them on foot or go get horses....he said "let's get going on foot".

Eventually we got to within 130 yards from them bedded down, saw an old 3x3 that was NICE! so I knew they were all there, so we waited. We were SOAKED! I asked him twice if he be happy with that big 3 pt cause he was early stage hyperthermic.....and add a big 4x4 to that......well you know what I was thinking lol. He said...."dad I want a 4x4, and I know they are there.....so I rather go big or go home empty"

Wow maybe he just might make a hunter! Finally 2 hours of laying in pouring rain.....NOTHING on either of us was dry, the big buck steps out......he drops him with one shot! What an amazing feeling when your son faced every obstacle and was determined to shoot a big buck!!!

Bob,

That sounds like one great hunt, congrats to your boy. Sounds like a veteran hunter already, must come from his old man...

Can't wait to see some pics

Bob,

You are totally asking the wrong guy, I am absolutely retarded when it comes to computer crap. Better send me a polaroid of it. LOL

Wish I could help with the "technical" but it took me 10 years to learn how to post pictures that were on the computer.

Congrats on the hunt. I've been there as my son is "growing into it" and when he shot his first. Pretty cool. So congrats to him AND TO YOU.

(I recommend River's West clothes. Rain or snow will no longer be wet.)

You guys sound like me!! Lol

Rivers West gear is useless to me unless it super cold out! I own some and cant wear it unless its super cold out......useless in rain lol. Great snow gear tho lol.

Sweet Buck!

Did you two stay out 10 days straight or were you guys going home or back to a base camp every night?

Congrats to the young man for staying with it and taking an awesome buck. Beautiful dark colored rack.

I think I saw your camp up on top of the breaks. With the watchdog? That really was a miserable day. I was surprised to see you guys were still out when I came in that day. Great job of hanging in there under tough conditions.

Nicely done...

Government doesn't fix anything and has spent trillions proving it!!!
Let's face it...After Monday and Tuesday, even the calender says WTF!

That's awesome! Great first buck and with your dad right next to you. Only seven more years until mu son can hunt in Colorado!!!

Thanks guys!!!! Was a moment I have been waiting for ever since my boys were born! Truly a great memory!!!!!! My boys are my world! To all you dads that have kids about ready to hunt.....enjoy!!

A BIG congrats to your son Bob and WOW what an excellent muley!!! Last year when my son took his first buck it was more than just an emotional experience for me! Its something us as dads will always remember, "our son(s) first buck"!

AWESOME!!!

I agree it's too hot...but they've made two more types. They are MUCH thinner. You should look into them.

Congrats once again.

Great job! You have taught him well he already knows it is ok to not get one just because. He will always want to shoot mature animals the way it should be. Way to hang in there congrats to you both.
