Southeastern Utah bucks

Earlier in the year my brother Jason took his best buck to date with his bow and my father followed that up with his first ever archery bull. (Both are pictured in the photo contest and the story is in the elk forum). So with that the 2011 hunting season was off to a great start. This past week put a close to the hunting season for our group and we added two more great bucks. On Sunday of the opening weekend I was fortunate to take a good buck. I seen this buck on the archery hunt but was unable to close the deal. No sighting on the muzzleloader made me think he had left the area, but on the second day of the rifle hunt he presented himself with a good shot and the rest is history. The buck is a typical 4x4 that measures just shy of 30 inches wide and is 21 inches tall. He has crab claw in the front on one side but overall he is a very good buck. Passing on several other bucks during the archery and muzzleloader hunt made taking this buck worth the wait. Again thanks to my hunting brothers Donald and Dallas for helping pack out this buck.

The second buck was taken the day after mine by my hunting partner Ray. Ray made a great shot on this buck, I had seen this buck just prior to the muzzleloader hunt and on the 3rd day of the rifle hunt he again showed and the rest too is history. The buck is 3x4 that measured 24 inches wide and 23 inches tall. His back tine is 15 1/2 inches long and he is a great looking buck. Both of these bucks have created memories that will last a lifetime and I hope next season brings new memories and photos to share. I want to thank all my hunting brothers for making this year a special one and a special thanks to all of our wives for thier support and for helping make this one of the best years ever.

As I read it I thought that the first buck was 24in wide. I was taken back at my ability to judge a good buck. haha.

Congrats on 2 monster bucks!

It was a big bodied 2 point. (this is my signature)

Thanks for the nice compliments. We had alot of fun this year and I can't wait for next season to begin. Alot of nice bucks being posted and it's good to see a bigger number of women and kids getting out and harvesting some nice animals. Good luck to everyone next season.
