WOULD YOU?

I first encountered this deer 4 years ago on a summer scouting trip. That would be the last time I saw him for 2 years, I then found him last season and hunted him for 6 days with him eluding me, I found him again this season and had too make a decision. He was with a 180 typical that was very impressive but was only 4 1/2 years old so I elected to take this old guy. With my history, width, and character plus he is a 7 1/2 to 8 1/2 year old deer, the choice was a clear one for me. Would you do the same or take the 180 4 1/2 year old deer.

You did well. The story and history is usually bigger than any buck which you have plenty of.

same! what did this one end up scoring? plus now you have the 180 buck to go after next year and he should be bigger! good choice!

It is a win win situation. If you would have passed on this guy, I would have shot him. Since you passed on the 4 1/2 y/o 180" buck, I get to shoot him!

So. . . where is he?

I don't think there is any other quality
so essential to success of any kind as the
quality of perseverance. It overcomes
almost everything, even nature.

You made the right choice. Next year you can check out the younger one. Nice buck.
