The Memory Buck... Buck Down!

This year seemed to be more about memories than hunting for a monster for myself. After my buddy's daughter killed her first buck openind day, (a sweet 26" 4x5), we continued to hunt hard. On the 6th day this buck was located and I was able to put him down. He's only 25" wide and not the greatest frame. But, both my boys, my Dad, and brother were all there. That's the first time we've all been to together when one of us has harvested a buck. The decision was simple wether or not to take the buck. So, it's not always the size of the buck that matters. Memories were made that day that will last forever! My boys hiked their butts off to get in on this buck. We boned him out and threw him in the packs for the long hike out. I'm sure that hike is something they won't soon forget either!! lol..

Agreed. Hunting is not only the taking of an animal but also the memories of the experience
shared with family and friends.

Congrats on a beautiful buck and memorable hunt.

Yep. I agree. Think those (as a group) should win the photo contest. WELL DONE!

Within the shadows, go quietly.

Very cool. I'm with ya 100%, so he's short a few inches, who cares! I'd take that buck and hunt any day over the alternatives. Nice pics too by the way, great memories.

Great post, lookd like you got a couple of new hunters hooked. Great looking kids, those are cherished photos you'll always enjoy...

That's what it's all about right there, great post and even greater pictures! I love seeing the youngsters out there...they are the next generation of sportsman and there's nothing more satisfying to a Dad than getting his kids in the field and watching their success.

Top notch post Elkster, thanks for sharing.
