I am new to this forum and appreciate all of the info that has been shared here. Thanks!

I finally drew a deer hunt for this year with 13 points for the Dolores Triangle Muzzleloader Hunt. I was wondering if anyone had any tricks, or tips that I could gleen from them for this hunt.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Great area and with storms coming in it will only get better.

I hope so. I haven't been on a hunt like this before, so I'm really looking forward to it!

digbyjr- good luck and looking forward to hearing about it. congrats on a long-awaited tag

I've only been in the unit a couple times and the last time was 1984. I did manage to kill a 30" 4x4 on my last hunt there.

I remember we came into the unit from Colorado through some park (Glade?). Someone on here will know what I'm trying to say.

The storms will help a ton to push them out of the park.

What are the dates of your hunt?

Zeke

Yes. get off the freeway in Fruita and drive up through the monument, and go through Glade Park. Drive to the border, and turn left. There are several camping spots along that road. A right at the border takes you down by the CO river, and loops back up around by Ryan park. Thats where I'd spend my time.

i was just out there a couple weeks ago, the burn on the border by ryan park is where i would start....i saw a 28 inch buck on the border....

Thanks for the tip. I've never had this kind of opportunity. I appreciate the support and help!

I'm leaving tomorrow for the Dolores Hunt. Has anyone spent time in the southern part of the unit, or down by the rivers? How are those areas to hunt? Or are there any other ideas of where to go?

Thanks again for the help.

Stan

>i agree....i feel used somehow....LOL

I agree too!

My help wasn't a ton but a simple post would be nice.

Hey guys, I was over there for the first part of the hunt, my brother had the tag. Things were kind of tough, no snow so the big bucks had not moved in yet. I had to be back to school for finals so my brother ended up shooting a decent buck, but not near as big as we would of liked or expected to get. I have seen the buck Stan shot, its a good buck, a nice four point, hopefully he will post the pics for you guys to see. Thanks for all the info you guys shared on here. It was great meeting you Stan and Dave.

Stan used to be called a good guy, BUT now the jury is out on him. LOL
