We had a great fall this year. I was really excited to have my son hunt with me. He finally turned 12 and he was really excited to finally have a turn at this fun stuff we call hunting! My son harvested his first big game animal in August. He shot a nice 13? antelope with his bow.
He followed that up with his first deer, a nice 18? 4x4. My dad spotted the buck from a distant ridge and helped us work into shooting range. It was a really proud moment for me to watch my son take his first deer!

This is a picture of my Dad?s 6x4. He?s 30.5 inches wide! His first 30" buck! I actually missed this buck earlier in the hunt. After missing him, we came back to the same area a few days later and killed this wide, old buck.

We also found this great shed during the hunt too. A little bonus after spending hours behind binoculars and spotting scopes.

Looking back, I'm glad I missed the wide buck! I told my Dad, even though his is wider I think I got a better buck than he did! I love you Dad :) This is a picture of my Dad holding my buck. He?s a 25.5? 5x3. He?s nice and heavy. He could be the best buck I've ever taken. I love those big deep back forks! It was awesome to share time with Dad and my son. I'm thankful to live in a state with such great opportunities. Also, big thanks to mulecreek, WyoXtec, and of course my good friend bucklover for the help and support.

Awesome pictures,i'm looking forward to taking my Grandson on his first hunt someday, glad it worked out for your'e dad to shoot that big buck. Their are no coincidences!

Absolutely awesome year for you guys!!!! What a treasure to have three generations of you guys out together...I enjoyed that with my dad and grandad as well. With any luck when I'm a grandad myself, my family will get to share in a hunt like that.(my dad passed away when my oldest was just two....breaking the cycle for awhile.) Thanks for sharing....warmed my heart and brought back some really great memories.

Nice work men, a series of great pics/memories on a multi generation hunt. I cant think of anything better!

Awesome job Derek, it just doesn't get any better than that. Three generations and three big bucks!! My dad missed this year deer hunting and that is the first time in over 40 years that he did not deer hunt. Tell your son congratulations.
