So I know deer often groom each other, but I watched these two a couple weeks ago do this for over 5 minutes without changing position. Made my neck ache.

Whats the weirdest thing you've seen a buck do?

i own some riverbottom land and i whitetail hunt every year, i was watching about 130-140 class buck and the next set of land to us there was some guys hunting and started shooting. that buck just laid down. at first i thought they shot a buck on my proptery and i kept watching. that buck was so smart he knew he had to lay down in cover and just stay in one epot. his does even left him. he laid there for a few hours and snuck through the russian olive trees. the buck did make it through hunting season with his smarts.

Not a buck story rather a group of does, coyote, and eagle type of story. Was one of the more entertaining events Ive seen deer hunting. Sitting on a hillside glassing around, ways off group of does where hanging out milling around. Saw a coyote closing in on them. Once the coyote got close to them acouple of the does charged the coyote, kicking the s++t out of him. They rared up on the hinds and pawed him good with there fronts. Coyote tucks tail and runs to another small ridge near them. Yes, too far a way to shoot otherwise been throwing lead at the coyote. Anyways, I was still watching then out of the sky a eagle dive bombs the coyote rolling him part way down the hill. Talk about a bad day for that critter. One of the reasons I like huntin, never know what each day will bring and see.

I've seen muley bucks hanging out with mountain goats up in the rocky country. This last year I saw some muleys travel a rock ledge about 18" wide that I would be scared to travel. They had to jump accross a 3' section where the ledge had deteriorated. 3 feet is not a long distance to jump accross and they made the jump easily but the distance to the ground would have killed them. fatrooster.

Don't know if it's strange or not but it sure was fun. It was after the late hunting season and I wanted to try out a new (very cheap) remote controlled coyote call.

I got set up on the back side of Peavine mountain with the call out about 30 yards in front of me and started it up. The local coyotes started to howl their disgust but a very nice three point muley came charging out of the trees.

He hunted all over for the screaming rabbit and the critter causing it to scream. I sat there taking his picture and turning the call on and off for a good half hour before I just shut it down and let the buck calm down and wander off.
