nontypical---The net is the total error for your best three guesses after he dropped your worst three guesses if you have entered all six contests like you have. Congrats for being right near the top so far!

Yeah, the thing to look for right now is folks that have a small number in the drop column. Those are folks that can blow it on a future contest and not end up getting hurt too badly when their drop ends up counting.

nmbighorn is a good example, he is dropping a guess of 1.5" right now. If he misses contest 8 by 10", his net score will only grow by 1.5".

A good example the other way is jmfnn. He's dropping a score of 12.875" so if he misses contest 8 by 10" that is going to count against him on the net that week.

Things will bounce around a bit with the next few contests with the drops coming into play. Less than 10" separates 1st from 83rd and you can miss that in one contest like most of us found out this week!

LAST EDITED ON Feb-22-12 AT 12:36PM (MST)[p]Just to clarify here's the way the spreadsheet works.

1st it simply totals the scores for each contest in the total column. Then it counts the number of contests that user has entered and puts it in the "Cnt" column. Based on the number of contests entered it calculates how many drops that person has and puts that in the "Drp" column. Next the spreadsheet calculates the largest misses and puts them in order in the "Large 1", "Large 2", and "Large 3" columns. Then checks how many drops that person gets and removes the largest drops that it can to get to the net.

You can see that dz in 16th place has only entered 5 contests so he only gets 2 drops. One of his drops is used up by the contest he missed. The spreadsheet calculates 3 drops but only uses 2 of them to get to his net, his difference of 2.5" on contest 1 is included in his net score even though it shows up in the "Large 3" column.

It took some thinking to get it to do everything automatically for me, but now that it is setup I just use a pivot table and some formulas and it calculates it all for me. The only thing I can mess up is keying in the scores and that's why I post them at the end of each contest and ask for everyone to check them for me.

Posting these as pdf files is working great for me, probably saves close to 30 minutes of messing with the image files and they end up with a better resolution as well.

looks like i need to go to a scoring class. so far most my guesses have been low. so according to the way i score, if i let a 150 buck walk by that means he was more like 160 ish...

Dang- If we were taking gross scores, I'd be in 9th... With drops I'm in 21st... I gotta start guessin closer...

Thanks for doin this Nathan...!!
