Submitted for land owner tag in untit 74. If drawn, anyone have any pointers on where to start. Its a big unit and just wondering where I would have good results. Not looking for someone's honey hole. Just good spot to get on some good muleys.

Not sure what you are asking. Do you own some land (160+ acres) in unit 74 and applied for a voucher on that basis? But the land is not big enough to hunt, so you want some ideas about public land?

Or did you apply for a tag that is PLO (private land only)? In that case you can only hunt private land, in which case you have to know someone or pay.

And it would help to know what season you applied for

Na, Mississippi. Reserved a landowner tag for that unit for 1st season muzzy. New to that unit. Just wondering where to start glassing

Still confused. You put a deposit down on a landowner "voucher", so he is the one in the drawing, not you? We are getting bogged down in terminology, because what you are talking about sounds like a voucher, not a tag. You purchase it from a landower who applied and was drawn. Then you take the voucher in and purchase the tag. Sound right?

For the muzzleloader season, I recommend the northern 1/2 of the unit. Find some steep country above timberline and get to glassing. Some of the toughest country in Colorado to hunt and some of the most beautiful. It is so hard for us lowlanders to get in good enough shape to hunt that country.

I emailed you some info.

Sorry for terminology, first time with this voucher/landowner tag stuff. Had always done draw system. Hunting with a buddy from Wyoming and we have heard nothing but good things about the unit but neither of us knew where to start. Thanks for the info about the northern half of unit. Never receivedthe email. [email protected]
