I don't no why it works for some but does not work for others ... the picture is floating around via NET . did not see info on this pic here so I thought I'd try to share .

No wonder SFW wanted to grab tags in Idaho. Would be a shame if someone other than a 1 percenter killed that buck.

for some reason I doubt I will find anything like that tomorrow when I go shed hunting or for the rest of my life for that matter.

IMO if managed right Idaho could have the absolute best deer herd in all of north america and I really don't think it would take that much the get a super herd.

up anyway."

Anybody have any info on the general area of Idaho? What a brute. See Bess? Ya never see pics of these til in the hand. I hope this guy watched him all winter without truck loads of spotting scopes on him

Man, it is hard to find a 6 point bull at times and you found muley sheds that dwarf some 6 points! Great Job!

The general area was western wyoming not idaho from what I was told they where illegally picked up 2 weeks ago.

Let's face it...After Monday and Tuesday, even the calender says WTF!

A little short on the backs! Wowzer. Why has that buck not shown up on the wonderful world of internet exposure until now?!
I'd love to hear the story. Awesome antlers, congrats to the finder!

i keep getting this buck in emails and everytime its for differnt state. the first one said the henrys and on and on and on. but killer sheds

Now the E-mails start with evry state and friend saying they are from right down the street. LOL
Wyo and Idaho is leading the states right now.

What a set of horns for some-one to find. AWESOME

.sttm. 29.00. must of been a tuff year in the upper country. p.s. is that befor or after you give some to wildlife?

Stud for sure but am I the only one who doesn't see 305"? Or just the only one willing to say it?

Not trying to be the huntrez of the thread but I can't see much more than 70" of extras there if that and I don't see a 230+ main frame. This is a HUGE BUCK, so I hesitate to post this but I just don't see 300".

Think about the world record and his main frame and all the extras or the buck that kid killed in CO a few years back and then look at this one. I am NOT a score expert and may be way off in my judgement so please don't take offense if you are or know the guy who found these sheds.

Bill

Kill the buck that makes YOU happy!

I think it would scare that score. Can see about ten extras that gotta average 6-7 inches plus a buncp of little ones. That bucks main beam is unreal. Giving it a huge inside credit. Best set of sheds I have seen in a long time.
Hope the real story comes to life on this brute

I don't know what that buck scores but I don't have a problem saying there is atleast 90+ of extras

Sit tall in the saddle, hold your head up high, keep your eyes fixed to where the trail meets the sky...

Something about that picture doesn't look right. I mean the guy is wearing a Sherwin Williams sweatshirt. And he has a TV dish on his house. And that looks like a horse or stock trailer behind him. Why is it all cloudy? He needs a haircut. He can't be a legit muley hunter, he has no goatee and he isn't wearing camo.

I'm just sayin...

Huh as I look at the picture I figure the 305 feet is about right. With the satelite dish inthe background as my scale measurement . . . The Dish is about 3 feet in diameter. So the drop tines are about 9 feet a piece, and all the other little junk must be 3 feet a point as well. Plus the main beams, and all, oh yeah the measurement adds up to 305 feet pretty easliy.

I hate to see how tall this buck must be though! And the guy holding the horns must be at least 75 feet tall himself! I think we found sasquatch right here on MM!!

NV your way off, I don't see any stock or horse trailer in the pic, so he really can't be a Muley guy!!!

I'm with ya huntindad...AWESOME buck for sure!! But to break 300", you're not just talking about a bad a$$ deer, you're talking about the absolute top tier of the best of the best! Would I crap in my pants if I saw this buck while hunting? Absolutely, but I still have a hard time seeing 300"+...maybe I'm just crazy.

300 hard to believe I'd say 270 is my guess, he has them way out in front of him to look bigger, 180-190 frame and 80-90 inches of extras... Great deer though

195" frame + 90" extras + 25" inside spread = 310"... Those G4's are insane as well as everything else!

Yeah I could see 305"! The guy who's FB page this is on has pictures of piles of sheds in the back of trailers/trucks and appears to be an antler buyer. He even has a picture of him with the Spider bull. He quoted these sheds as being from Idaho at 305" and whoever has them has three years of sheds off the buck. I sent him a message personally and he won't get back to me...

Mike

I'm not trying to be a prick, but.. That's great that the guy has pics with the spider bull, you could as well. It's sitting on the showroom floor of Teton Toyota in Idaho Falls. They have a room filled with other animals killed by Denny Austad. As for the sheds, they're a great set but THEY ARE NOT from this year and THEY WERE PICKED UP LEGALLY. But if anyone is claiming they found them (both sides) they are completely lying and possibly trying to make up for some type of small anatomy. The left side was picked up last year and it was a year or so old but it was in some thick brush so it retained its color. The person that found it then sold it for some big $$$$. So I hope no one is claiming they found both sides, if so thats pretty pathetic. I have additional photos of the shed but they show too much of the area and access route so I will not post until I can get them edited. Just a little FYI.

Wait just a second. If they are from Idaho like wyo says, i saw this buck on the hoof! Im not pulling anyones leg. I was elk hunting and saw this deer a couple years ago at the first of November. I thought it was a bull elk and had cow tags. I was looking for cow elk, when it was brought to my attention that was a mule deer, not an elk. I watched the buck for about 10 seconds crest the ridge and disapear over the other side. I thought at the time he was a state record deer and even one of the top mule deer ever. If this is him, and id bet it is based on the antlers, he looked to me like he had a tree growing from his head. An absolute monster. I saw 2 deer in the general area i saw him. Just 2. Him and a doe. I never went back to look for his sheds, was too far of a drive and figured someone would have been watching him anyway. Very interesting.

trying to figure out what you're saying. 195" frame + 25" inside spread. So you're saying it has a 220" frame?

Dreamabout, I'll give you $100 to give me the GPS coordinates.:)
The left side definately looks weathered. Either the right side was just found, or I'm voting for repo or wood.

Read my post again, I said the guy appears to be an antler buyer which would fit in perfectly with your info that they sold the left side for big $$$... And I didn't draw any conclusions from the picture of him with the spider bull (it was in a living room of a home), I was just saying he obviously handles a lot of big antlers (IE: perk of the job being an antler buyer). So no you're not being a prick, and I wasn't making any claims of any sort.

Yoyak, yep I'm a dumbass... must've been a slow morning at work since I added the inside width twice, atleast thats the story I'm sticking to. Muh bad! :-(

Mike

Thanks for sharing pics and some info. Hopes of finding those kind of sheds is what keeps me hiking

Lmao, it'll take more than 100 bucks to get those coordinates from me.. haha

Mike, I know you know I wasnt directing my comments at you. My intentions were just to clarify things a bit with the sheds, and to make sure nobody was claiming that they found both sides.
I would recommend if you're in the area stop by and check out the Austad collection in person, it's pretty neat.

Have a good one.

Ok, I think the score is real. Just from the photo I come up with 223" main frame including an estimated 25" spread. I think there are another 70+" of extras. This isn't another Mike Eastman "rack bracketing" bs score. I'll go with the rumor of 300".

This set came from Idaho,I talked to Richard shortly after he bought the passenger side off this set and the set from the year before from the guy who found it. The set from the year before was very impressive around 250 if I rememberer right but when I held the single I about ##### in my pants it as alot bigger than the set from the year before. For anybody who is doubting the score of 300 your wrong its that big or dang close to it. On a differant note I bet the guy that found the first side sure regrets not looking a little harder for the match.

So you all realize that all the outfitters have seen these pictures and are going for broke on this buck now. No way he is kept a secret now. Im just curious if hes a general or controlled unit buck. That would change the playing field greatly. Problem is, now that Idaho has those raffle draws, this bucks on the hit list. Id about guarantee he will be dead this fall. Pony up the cash rich folks. Just hope a good ol' boy working his ass off lays the hammer down on this brusier.

You should know if he's living in a general or draw unit since you've seen him live.......

Excuse me? After reviewing the area where the sheds were found by a person that was supposibly there, it was determined it may not be the same buck. Im curiuos if you were face to face with me if you would mouth off the way most of you do online. Your rude, ignorant, and have small anatomy(by your statements that is obvious). So, there is another bruiser running around the hills that is alot like this buck. Why dont some of you do actual research before you mouth off and look like an ass. YBO, were you refering to me? If so get a life, grow up, and you just showed how white trash you are and will never be taken seriuosly. Its pathetic and childish.

LOL! do i need to call everybody parents! sounds like high school! funny how one set of antlers get everyone all fired up! the poor guy that has this set is prob in hiding!!

Sorry to disappoint everyone but that deer is dead, for a couple years now.
If the guy with 4 years of that bucks sheds didn't kill it no one else deserved to, he spent years looking for the other side, carefully griding out the area. I'm glad there is a place where a deer can still die of old age. I held those horns in my hands this morning and they are all of 305. There is at least 6-8 inches broken off, and the inside spread should be at least 25 if not a little more. It has a 215ish main frame just to stop the bs talkin. Also the dude who found it is a hardcore hunter and I guarantee he would hunt all you under the table!!!

"he would hunt all you under the table"

Why would he be hunting me under the table? I'm never there.

He can hunt me under the table. But he cant find me because I've got my carpet ghille suit on.

I just got fired up reading all the stupid comments. The guy hunts harder than most. The sheds should be the only topic

If the buck is dead then post up the pics of the other years of sheds off this buck. I'm curious to see his progression.

They aren't mine to post, but maybe he will soon. Was about 254 the year before.

Only he deserved it huh? Na, dont think so. So, if the bucks dead, where were the sheds found? Unit? Why would he care if the bucks dead..?

Is that a serious question. It would still get overloaded with hunters, and he still hunts there

See if he'd be willing to post them. That is the kind of thing that really intrigues me on these giants. Seeing how big the jumps are from year to year.
